Lenovo and Tag Heuer – Where Technology and Horology Collide

As two icons of innovation join forces for a singular occasion, Lenovo and TAG Heuer invite you to experience a fusion of cutting-edge technology and Swiss watchmaking mastery. This exclusive collaboration merges Lenovo’s legacy of engineering excellence with TAG Heuer’s storied heritage of precision timing, creating a limited-edition showcase that celebrates the spirit of craftsmanship and forward-thinking design.

Under the deft guidance of both brands’ creative directors, this one-time event spotlights a stunning smartwatch concept housed in a handcrafted steel case, paired with Lenovo’s latest AI-driven ultralight notebook. Together, they symbolise the seamless interplay of time and technology—where every millisecond counts and every calculation propels you toward what’s next. It’s an ode to those who demand peak performance in every moment and refuse to compromise on style.

I’m excited to share how Lenovo is pushing the edge of AI where it truly matters: in the field, under pressure, and at race pace. When we integrated the ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition into Formula 1’s Event Technical Centre at the Chinese Grand Prix—a compact, mobile nerve-centre handling timing, telemetry, and live coordination—the bar was clear: reliability, speed, and mobility or don’t show up.

The X9’s on-device AI accelerated collaboration and data processing, while its all-day battery and military-grade durability ensured operations continued without interruption. In short, we delivered faster insights with lower latency, right where decisions are made.

Edge AI is the unlock. By processing models locally, the X9 trims the dependency on cloud round-trips, cutting delay during high-demand tasks and protecting sensitive data. That shows up in the details: smoother multitasking at the pit wall, quicker analysis loops during evolving race conditions, and the confidence to run real-time, AI-assisted workflows when every millisecond counts.

Early results have been promising; the hardware and software balance are doing exactly what we designed them to do—delivering performance, efficiency, and privacy in the same package.

Feedback from the paddock has been energising. F1’s technical leaders praised how our smart features—think adaptive modes for user experience and health, seamless sharing, and intelligent care—add up to genuine productivity, not just a longer spec sheet. That validation shapes our next wave of rollouts: scale what works, refine what’s noisy, and keep aligning with sustainability goals alongside performance.

Beyond the ETC, our collaboration with F1’s broadcast and operations teams continues to explore on-site and edge compute AI solutions that reduce latency and bolster resilience. The north star is the same: give technical crews tools that keep pace with the sport’s intensity, from the garage to the media compound, while expanding on Lenovo infrastructure that’s already embedded across the ecosystem.

Sustainability sits in the brief, not the footnotes. More capable, energy-efficient devices at the edge can lower reliance on heavy cloud infrastructure and reduce the need to ship excess equipment from race to race—saving energy, trimming transport emissions, and easing cooling loads on site. It’s operational sense that also advances shared net-zero commitments.

Looking ahead to upcoming races in Asia and beyond, our roadmap focuses on AI PCs and intelligent infrastructure that scale with F1’s ambitions. The X9 deployment is a starting line, not a finish.

We’re iterating with our partners on hardware and services that widen the envelope—faster insights, safer operations, smarter workflows—while staying grounded in the realities of live sport.

This is the lens through which we approach every partnership: choose environments that demand cutting-edge innovation, then co-engineer solutions that prove their worth under real pressure. With AI PCs front and centre, and a growing stack of edge capabilities, we’re confident in the path forward—building systems that are faster, more secure, and more sustainable, lap after lap.
