Sony Xperia 1 VII Unveiled: Pro-Level Camera, Walkman Audio & BRAVIA Display in One Flagship

Sony has launched its newest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, packed with the latest innovations developed in collaboration with Sony’s renowned Alpha cameras, Walkman audio players, and BRAVIA TVs. This cutting-edge smartphone introduces ‘Xperia Intelligence’, AI-powered features that elevate camera, audio, and display performance. Among its standout capabilities are two new video tools, AI Camerawork and Auto Framing, which allow users to shoot steady, well-composed footage even when they’re not actively monitoring the screen.

The AI Camerawork feature stabilises video and maintains subject positioning in frame, using advanced posture estimation to mimic professional filming. Meanwhile, Auto Framing leverages AI to track moving subjects and create two videos at once: one of the full scene and another with a focused, cropped view. These tools make it easier for casual users to capture polished, cinematic footage effortlessly.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens, powered by a larger 48MP sensor that enables low-noise night shots and macro photography from as close as 5cm. Paired with the Exmor T for mobile sensor and telephoto zoom from 85mm to 170mm, the Xperia 1 VII promises excellent quality across all focal lengths. It also offers 2x optical zoom and improved clarity even during AI-enhanced video crops.

On the audio front, the Xperia 1 VII inherits Walkman-grade sound tuning, including improved circuitry and components for wired headphones. It also integrates DSEE Ultimate™ AI enhancement for wireless playback, providing a high-fidelity music experience even with compressed audio. Its upgraded full-stage stereo speakers deliver clearer and more balanced sound across all frequencies.

The 6.5-inch OLED display has been enhanced with a rear light sensor that works with Sunlight Vision and BRAVIA display tech to adapt brightness and colour in any environment, indoors or out. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the Xperia 1 VII delivers a 40% boost in processing power and supports up to two days of usage. The phone promises long-term support, with four OS updates and six years of security patches.

Environmentally conscious, Sony has used recycled materials like SORPLAS™ for both the device and packaging, achieving plastic-free boxing. Accessibility features such as audible horizontal alignment guides and enhanced TalkBack settings make the phone more inclusive. A matching Style Cover with Stand (sold separately) is available in three colours and doubles as a grip and stabiliser for vertical and horizontal shooting.
