Daniel Roth has introduced the new Daniel Roth Extra Plat Platinum, a refined evolution of its Extra Plat collection that places traditional craftsmanship, hand-finishing and understated luxury at the forefront.
The watch combines the brand’s signature double-ellipse case design with a meticulously hand-finished movement housed in platinum, one of watchmaking’s most prestigious and technically demanding materials.
A Platinum Case Built Around Subtle Luxury
The Daniel Roth Extra Plat Platinum features the brand’s distinctive double-ellipse-shaped platinum case, designed to create a sense of quiet exclusivity rather than overt visual extravagance.

Platinum’s density and hardness make it significantly more difficult to machine than gold, requiring slower production speeds, greater precision, and substantially longer finishing times.
Daniel Roth says crafting the case can take up to three times longer compared to working with gold due to the strain platinum places on tools and the care required during production.
The watch is further complemented by downward-curved lugs designed to improve comfort on the wrist while pairing naturally with the light-tan leather strap for a softer visual contrast.
Calibre DR002 Focuses on Balance and Architectural Precision
At the heart of the watch is the hand-finished Calibre DR002, developed according to Daniel Roth’s philosophy of proportional clarity and visual equilibrium.

The movement was designed by master watchmakers Enrico Barbasini and Michel Navas, who approached the ultra-thin calibre with the principle of “How far and no further.”
The movement’s finishing reportedly involves more than 70 individual hand-executed operations, reflecting the brand’s focus on traditional haute horlogerie craftsmanship.

Visible through the sapphire caseback are finely executed bevels and internal angles, including intricate rounded bercé-style interior angles that require substantially more time than standard bevel finishing.
Daniel Roth notes that these highly complex finishing details highlight the depth of manual craftsmanship involved in the movement’s construction.
Hand Guilloché Dial Crafted Using Traditional Rose Engine Techniques
The watch’s dial continues the emphasis on traditional artisanal techniques.
Its base is crafted from solid gold and features hand-executed pinstripe guilloché created using a traditional rose engine. Each line is individually engraved by hand, requiring precise control over depth and spacing to maintain perfect consistency across the dial surface.
The dial also includes:
● A gold minute disc
● A filet sauté border finish
● Black printed typography displaying the time and Daniel Roth branding

Together, the elements create a restrained and highly classical aesthetic that aligns with the watch’s overall philosophy of discreet refinement.
A Collector’s Piece Rooted in Traditional Haute Horlogerie
The Daniel Roth Extra Plat Platinum positions itself firmly within the world of independent high watchmaking, where technical integrity and artisanal finishing remain central to a watch’s identity.
Rather than focusing on overt complications or aggressive styling, the watch emphasises balance, proportion, finishing quality and long-term craftsmanship traditions.
Daniel Roth says the Extra Plat Platinum reinforces its ongoing commitment to enduring savoir-faire and technical discipline through exacting detail and understated elegance.’
The Daniel Roth Extra Plat Platinum retails for S$114,000, including tax.
