Master watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva has once again turned to nature—and memory—for inspiration. More than three decades after restoring stone dial watches at Piaget, his fascination with the unique interplay of colour, texture, and light has resurfaced in the new S.U.F Helsinki Vetehinen 2024 series.
Limited to just 12 pieces per version, this trio of diving watches brings together mechanical mastery and natural elegance through stone and glass dials rarely seen in modern horology.
Vetehinen Aventurine
Crafted from aventurine glass, this dial radiates like a starry night. First discovered in 17th-century Venice, the material is man-made, yet its celestial sparkle rivals that of any gemstone.
Metallic particles suspended in glass give the dial a dynamic shimmer that shifts with every flick of the wrist.
Vetehinen Lapis Lazuli
Once the preserve of pharaohs and Renaissance painters, lapis lazuli lends a regal tone to the Vetehinen line. Its rich ultramarine hue and naturally occurring gold flecks offer a timeless beauty that commands attention.
Originating from the Congo, this is the first time S.U.F Helsinki uses this majestic stone in a timepiece.
Vetehinen Malachite
With hypnotic swirls and ancient symbolism, malachite is more than a stone—it’s a statement.
Believed to protect and attract prosperity, its deep green layers from India breathe organic sophistication into the diving watch’s rugged form.
Built to Dive, Designed to Dazzle
While their dials enchant, the Vetehinen models are thoroughly robust diving instruments. Each features:
● A 42mm stainless steel case made from high-grade Finnish Outokumpu steel
● Water resistance up to 300 metres (30 ATM)
● A one-way rotating bezel with Super-Luminova markings
● Screw-down crown and sapphire crystal
● Automatic Soprod A10 movement, offering 42-hour power reserve
● Two strap options: handmade black salmon leather and black natural rubber
The Collector’s Touch
With only 12 pieces of each dial variation produced, these watches are a rare convergence of artistry, rarity, and mechanical precision.
