FiiO JM21: Power Meets Portability

FiiO has officially unveiled the JM21, a feature-packed Android-based portable music player designed for audiophiles who want premium sound in a sleek, pocket-friendly form.

Despite its entry-level pricing, the JM21 boasts high-end components, including an octa-core Snapdragon 680 processor, dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs, and a fully balanced audio design. With its powerful output, segmented power supply, and advanced digital audio purification system, this device promises to deliver an exceptional listening experience without breaking the bank.

Flagship Performance in a Slim Body
At just 13mm thin and weighing only 156g, the JM21 is impressively lightweight while still packing serious power. Its Snapdragon 680 processor, built on a 6nm process, ensures smooth performance with optimized power efficiency.

The 4.7-inch HD display offers a vibrant interface, while Android 13 provides seamless app support, including major streaming platforms.

Hi-Res Audio with Power to Spare
Equipped with dual CS43198 DACs and two high-performance SGM8262 op-amps, the JM21 features a fully balanced audio circuit that delivers up to 700mW + 700mW output power.

Three gain levels and three-volume curves adapt the sound to various headphones, from sensitive IEMs to high-impedance over-ear models. Independent power supplies for digital and analogue sections, along with shielded partitions, reduce interference for a cleaner, more precise sound reproduction.

Advanced Digital Audio Purification
FiiO’s proprietary DAPS (Digital Audio Purification System) takes the JM21’s audio quality to the next level. Featuring a 5th-gen FPGA and dual custom femtosecond crystal oscillators, this system ensures ultra-low jitter and precise digital signal handling.

Unlike many Android-based music players, the JM21 avoids global SRC (Sample Rate Conversion) issues, preserving the original quality of both local files and streamed audio.

Versatile Connectivity and Long Battery Life
The JM21 offers multiple output options, including 3.5mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced, SPDIF, and USB audio. It also functions as an asynchronous USB DAC, supporting up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD256 native decoding.

For wireless use, Bluetooth 5.0 supports LDAC, LHDC, and aptX HD, ensuring high-quality playback. Battery life reaches 12.5 hours on single-ended output, with fast charging available via USB-C.

Custom Sound Tuning and Expandable Storage
FiiO’s system-wide PEQ (Parametric Equalizer) allows users to fine-tune their sound profile across both FiiO Music and third-party apps. With 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage (expandable up to 2TB via microSD), the JM21 offers plenty of space for extensive hi-res libraries.

The FiiO JM21 is available at selected retailers at $319.
