1. Master the Staff and Its Stances
The staff is the only melee weapon in the game, but it offers incredible versatility thanks to its stances. You’ll unlock three stances as you progress:
● Smash Stance: Ideal for aggressive combat, this stance delivers powerful, high-damage strikes.
● Thrust Stance: A defensive stance that focuses on precise, piercing attacks.
● Pillar Stance: This unique stance allows you to extend your staff and perform acrobatic moves, such as hopping onto the weapon to evade attacks or gain a height advantage.
Each stance serves a different purpose, and you can switch between them with the press of a button. Mastering when and how to use each stance is key to adapting to various enemies and scenarios.
2. Harness Transformation Abilities
Transformation powers let you temporarily become powerful creatures with their own attacks and health pools. These abilities are especially useful for clearing groups of enemies or dealing significant damage to bosses. Keep an eye on your might gauge, which depletes over time, and make the most of your transformed state before reverting to your original form.
3. Focus on Gear with High Damage and Bonuses
Equipment in Black Myth: Wukong comes in different rarities, from common to mythical. Higher-rarity items generally offer better stats and special bonuses. Pay attention to set bonuses on armour, which activate when you equip multiple pieces of the same set. For instance, the Galeguard set grants bonuses like increased focus points for perfect dodges and reduced spell cooldowns. Experiment with different combinations to find a setup that complements your playstyle.
4. Defeat Glowing Elites for Spirit Skills
Glowing enemies with blue flames are elite mobs known as yaoguai chiefs. Defeating them grants you their unique spirit skills, which you can equip and use in battle. These skills add variety to your arsenal, mimicking the abilities of the enemies you’ve defeated. For example, you might gain a ranged attack or an area-of-effect ability to complement your melee combat. Always prioritize taking down these elites when you encounter them.
5. Cast Spells Wisely
Magic is a powerful tool, but it comes with risks. Spells like freezing enemies or summoning duplicates can give you an edge, but their cast times leave you vulnerable. Plan your spell usage carefully—pre-casting abilities like A Pluck of Many (which summons duplicates) before entering combat can give you an immediate advantage. Also, keep an eye on cooldown times, as interrupted spells may leave you waiting before you can cast again.
