After spending some quality time with the Lenovo Legion 5i (16″, 9th Gen), I must say this machine has been an incredible companion for gaming, especially when playing Black Myth: Wukong. Check out how smooth the graphics are in the screen recording I took below!
What stood out to me while playing Black Myth: Wukong was the superb quality of both the game and the laptop. From the moment I launched the game, it was clear that the Legion 5i, powered by Intel’s 14th Gen Core HX processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, was designed for an experience like this.
The game’s breathtaking set pieces, intricate combat, and detailed environments were displayed in all their glory on the 240Hz WQXGA display with vivid colours and smooth motion – no stutter, no tearing, just seamless gameplay.
The game itself is a visual feast, and the Legion 5i was able to keep up without a hitch. Everything from the beautiful, well-crafted environments to the detailed character models felt alive. The combat was satisfying and the laptop’s performance allowed me to focus on learning the bosses’ attack patterns rather than worrying about frame drops or lag.
I didn’t encounter any significant issues with the laptop throughout my playthrough. The 16:10 display ratio and 500-nit brightness made the dark, moody environments of Black Myth: Wukong look fantastic, while the 2 x 2W Harman speaker system with Nahimic Audio makes every clash and ambient sound feel incredibly real.
The Legion 5i’s cooling system, specifically the ColdFront Hyper, kept the machine running cool and quiet even during the most intense battles. The dual fans did a remarkable job of keeping the laptop from overheating, which made my long gaming sessions comfortable and enjoyable.
The TrueStrike keyboard also deserves a mention—its tactile feedback and anti-ghosting made executing combos and dodging attacks precise and responsive.
As a gamer who appreciates balance, I found the Legion 5i’s ability to switch between performance modes a great feature.
When I needed to push for maximum performance, I easily toggled the dGPU-only mode and activated Performance Mode to ensure I was getting the best possible frame rates, which was especially useful during boss fights.
And if I needed to tone it down for casual gaming or longer sessions, the Balanced Mode and Hybrid Graphics switch provided a solid middle ground.
Overall, the Legion 5i handled Black Myth: Wukong exceptionally well, giving me an experience that was both visually stunning and highly enjoyable. The laptop’s powerful specs, smooth display, and reliable cooling system make it a great choice for gamers who want to dive into demanding titles without compromising on performance.
The Lenovo Legion 5i is currently available in Singapore and is estimated to start at SGD 2,068.82.
