Review: HONOR Magic 6 Pro

Power Of Mobile Technology

Delving into the advanced capabilities of the HONOR Magic 6 Pro

The HONOR Magic 6 Pro represents a significant advancement in the convergence of mobile technology and sophisticated photography capabilities. This device, which has earned five DXOMARK 2024 Gold Labels, exemplifies cutting-edge performance in computational photography and seamless device operation.

Initiating my evaluation in Singapore’s Fullerton Bay, I leveraged the device’s 180MP Periscope Telephoto lens, integral to the HONOR Tele-Field Camera System. This high-resolution lens, equipped with advanced optical zoom capabilities, rendered distant architectural elements with remarkable resolution and clarity. The panoramic capture mode further enhanced this experience, facilitating expansive landscape shots encompassing depth and breadth with minimal distortion.

In dim lighting conditions, the Night Mode algorithm minimised noise and enhanced light capture, allowing for detailed nocturnal cityscapes. The historical Fullerton Hotel provided a dynamic range testing ground, where the camera adeptly balanced the stark contrasts between the illuminated interiors and the subdued exterior, capturing the colonial architecture with precision.

I also tested the telephoto capabilities from a vantage point on the 35th floor. The device’s ultra-wide-angle lens documented the panoramic sea view without compromising on detail, even at 5x optical zoom, showcasing the device’s capability to maintain resolution and clarity across varying focal lengths.

Additionally, I engaged the Super Macro Mode to examine its performance in close-up photography. The device’s AI-driven focus algorithms adjusted rapidly, highlighting textural details of the cuisine while artistically blurring the background to emphasise the subject. This mode demonstrates the phone’s proficiency in handling depth of field and focus with high accuracy.

The AI Sensing Action Mode was particularly effective in capturing high-velocity subjects, demonstrating the phone’s utility in dynamic environments. This mode utilises a predictive algorithm to lock focus on rapidly moving objects, reducing motion blur and capturing moments with precision.

The phone’s AI capabilities extend into user experience optimization. AI Noise Cancelling technology ensures clear audio capture in varied acoustic environments, essential for professional settings. The Magic Portal interface, a novel feature, integrates intent-based user interactions, allowing for anticipative service delivery. This interface streamlines app functionality, enhancing user engagement through intuitive navigation.

Driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the HONOR Magic 6 Pro handles intensive multitasking with ease, supported by the proprietary HONOR C1+ connectivity chip which ensures continuous and stable network performance.

The 6.80-inch LTPO display is notable for its 120Hz adaptive dynamic refresh rate and peak HDR brightness of 5000 nits, facilitating an immersive viewing experience under various lighting conditions.

We say: The HONOR Magic 6 Pro is not merely a technological upgrade but a shift in how we capture and interact with the world, blending cutting-edge photography with intelligent design to redefine the flagship smartphone experience.
