Louis Erard and Olivier Mosset Unite for a Timepiece That Transcends Art and Horology

In a groundbreaking fusion of fine watchmaking and contemporary art, Louis Erard announces its latest artistic endeavour, a collaboration with the Swiss abstract art luminary, Olivier Mosset. This partnership has given birth to a timepiece that is as much a work of art as it is a masterclass in horological craftsmanship: Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Olivier Mosset.

Olivier Mosset, renowned for his pivotal role in the abstract art movement of the 1960s and his rebellious spirit, brings a unique vision to the world of watchmaking. Known for his work with the B.M.P.T group alongside other iconic artists, Mosset’s art has always been about challenging perceptions and exploring the boundaries of the abstract. This collaborative watch is no different, presenting a stark, black-on-black design punctuated by sparkling inlays that demand the observer to look closer.

Crafted as an essay on the concept of time itself, the watch refuses to be pigeonholed purely as an artwork. Instead, it aims to remain true to the essence of timekeeping. The design is a homage to Mosset’s love for the motorcycle culture, reminiscent of an “Easy Rider” aesthetic, encapsulated within the precision of Swiss watchmaking. The case, bracelet, and hands are enveloped in black, with the dial breaking this monochrome with a burst of silver glitter, reminiscent of an automobile’s metallic body paint.

The dial’s design, while minimalistic, incorporates Mosset’s signature geometric and chromatic reduction, presenting a flat, shimmering surface that captivates and intrigues. The hands of the watch—hour, minute, and second—are identical in shape and size, differentiated only by the size of the hole indicating their function, a nod to Mosset’s minimalist tendencies.

Each of the 178 pieces in this limited series bears a red seal declaring “work of art – do not wear,” challenging the traditional utility of a watch and instead presenting it as an object to be contemplated. Accompanying the timepiece are two interchangeable bracelets, including one designed by Mosset, allowing for a personal touch to this wearable art.

Priced at SGD 6,050 including tax, Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Olivier Mosset is not just a timepiece; it’s a statement. It represents a bridge between the realms of art and watchmaking, inviting wearers and viewers alike to embark on a journey
