Shooting with amped-up features in the upgraded mirrorless camera
When Canon EOS R6 Mark II came out to the market, I was really excited to not just try it, but shoot all sorts of photos from portraits to nature. What can be enhanced from the R6 which was already great at what it does?
I took some time off during the golden hour for a photo shoot in Little India with a photographer whom I collaborated with many times. He really enjoyed trying the R6 Mark II for the first time too. The raw colours from the camera already look amazing, making it easy for post-processing edits. I like my photos with high contrast and saturation like these.

I have been taking photos as a model or content creator for years and I know that the most natural shots are when you are in motion. Your posture looks the most relaxed and movement makes photos more captivating. While the predecessor R6 has continuous shooting of up to 20 fps, R6 Mark II’s highly accurate 40 fps burst shooting ensures that every moment is captured with full clarity. This makes it the fastest full-frame mirrorless in the market. No more shots with a clear face but blur arms or hair!

I have been a Canon camera leisure photographer for years but I still consider myself a beginner, so I rely on autofocus mode most of the time especially if I am shooting on the go during my travels or rushing to squeeze in more shots. There is a significant advancement in autofocus with the Canon EOS R6 Mark II which I really appreciate. There is also a new AI auto-subject recognition mode that differentiates subjects like humans and animals and focuses accordingly.

I took the camera to the test in Singapore Botanic Gardens and captured tight shots of the gorgeous fauna and mini waterfall.

There are other useful functionalities that the R6 Mark II comes with, including Breathing Compensation, Focus Stacking, High-Frequency Anti-Flicker mode, and more, on top of being 10g lighter and having a longer battery life than the former R6.

I really enjoyed walking along the streets of Little India with my photographer and visiting Botanic Gardens with the R6 Mark II and taking shots that I am proud of. If you are someone like me who wants an upgrade from your existing mirrorless cameras or even your smartphone cameras, Canon EOS R6 Mark II is a great choice for something that is lightweight and convenient to bring around, with well-rounded features for various types of photography and videography.
