Bringing work on the go with Acer’s Swift Go 14

As a hybrid work arrangement is the norm, it was getting pretty stuffy at home with the increasingly humid weather so I thought about bringing my workspace out to cafes. The best part when heading out to work is the type of “chill” vibes you can get while working with a cup of coffee. To join me in my WFC (Work from Cafe) journey this week, Acer kindly shared their Swift Go 14 for me to review. Also, as I was doing a camera review that week, I had to travel around and about to different locations often.

To give a quick recap of the Swift Go 14, it is a lightweight and versatile laptop that offers an immersive OLED display with a 2.8K resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. Powered by 13th Gen Intel® Core™ processors and featuring all-day battery life, it delivers excellent performance for work and plays. With its slim design, ample storage options, and enhanced video conferencing features, the Swift Go 14 is a reliable and portable choice for productivity on the go.

So let’s get into the review. As mentioned earlier, I was out and about moving across different places. Thankfully the Swift Go 14 is lightweight (1.3kg) and slim, it could easily fit into my tote bag and didn’t cause much shoulder pain when moving around Cityhall & Clarke Quay to snap shots while doing a camera review. The Swift Go 14 also features a 14.9 mm aluminium chassis with a 90% screen-to-body ratio and ultra-slim side bezels making the screen much wider and more immersive.

Since I was out using the laptop the whole day, I thought to test out the battery performance. Started the day with a full bar of battery and ended the day with only using 31% of the battery. Pretty impressive in my opinion, especially because I was using the Swift Go 14 to edit photos, and put together videos while writing for hours.

In addition, the wifi connectivity was smooth and there weren’t any hiccups that happen when connecting to free wifi or hotspots. This is due to the Wi-Fi 6E that the Swift Go 14 is equipped with for seamless connectivity.

On top of the battery and connectivity performance, what was outstanding to me was the powerful performance of the Swift Go 14. Despite being loaded with multiple tabs and applications open, it was running smoothly and there wasn’t a time I had to reboot the laptop for any lags. Powered by 13th Gen Intel® Core™ H-series processors and the OLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, working was smooth and undisrupted. As someone who wears contacts, I’m also thankful for the TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe® display certification as it reduces the lethargic effect of looking at digital devices for too long.

One issue that I face with laptops is overheating especially when running multiple applications and tabs. It was a delightful surprise when the Swift Go 14 barely felt warm throughout my day despite the burden it was carrying. With the TwinAir Cooling technology inbuilt, the keyboard and laptop felt cool.

While doing my articles, I had to attend a quick meeting to run through some content. My teammates commented that I was much clearer than when I used my laptop. I guess this is all thanks to Swift Go 14’s PurifiedView™ video conferencing features such as Background Blur, Automatic Framing, and Eye Contact. Also, it has a high-quality 1440p webcam with Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) and Acer PurifiedVoice™ technology for clear audio.

All in all, the Acer Swift Go 14″ combines impressive display quality, powerful performance, and a sleek design, making it a versatile and portable laptop for work, school, and creative projects. It would be perfect for digital nomads or those who are constantly bringing work on the go. The Swift Go 14 can be purchased at https://store.acer.com/en-sg/ from $1,798 onwards.
