Last year, Dyson released the Dyson Zone™ headphones, which were developed over a period of six years to offer an immersive audio experience while also purifying the air. The headphones are equipped with advanced features such as noise cancellation, full-spectrum audio reproduction, and ultra-low distortion. They can filter out 99% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns, making them an ideal solution for people living in cities with high levels of air pollution and noise.
Urban areas worldwide are grappling with rising pollution levels due to infrastructure-related factors such as transport, construction, and traffic, which all contribute to air and noise pollution. For instance, a recent study by the National University of Singapore revealed that the average outdoor sound level in Singapore is higher than the recommended maximum of 67 decibels per hour, and 99% of the world’s population is exposed to unsafe pollution levels as per the WHO guidelines.
The Dyson Zone™ headphones have been specifically engineered to combat the challenges posed by city noise and air pollution. They provide a runtime of 50 hours for audio-only or 4 hours of combined purification and audio with a 100% charge time of just 3 hours. Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries and USB-C charging, the headphones use compressors in each earcup to draw air through the dual-layer filters and project purified air streams to the wearer’s nose and mouth via a non-contact detachable visor.
The Dyson Zone™ headphones deliver high-fidelity, immersive audio with ultra-low distortion and a broad frequency range for clarity across bass, mids, and highs. They incorporate an additional microphone for telephony, enabling phone calls, voice recording, and voice control. The telephony microphone and feed-forward ANC microphone work in tandem to create dual-microphone beamforming that enhances voice clarity and suppresses noise from the sides and behind the wearer.
Dyson engineers took a scientific approach to audio engineering and user trialling, rather than relying on a “golden listener” to determine what sounds good. The headphones feature ultra-low distortion, advanced noise cancellation, full-spectrum audio, scientific tuning for detailed sound, and immersive comfort. They also offer a unique EQ setting that optimizes the frequency curve for pure, clear audio across the full audible frequency range.
Singapore will be the first within Southeast Asia to unveil the Dyson Zone. Pre-orders for the Dyson Zone™ headphones with air purification will be available from S$1,249 onwards on www.dyson.com.sg/products/headphones/zone and at Dyson Demo Stores from 24 April 2023, and go on sale from 3 May 2023.
