The Canon EOS 200DII Says Annyeonghaseyo! (Part 1)

A lot of us love travelling, whether it’s just for a day trip across the causeway or a long haul flight to the other side of the world. As a full-time university student with hectic work and study schedules, it’s never easy to find the time to truly get away and immerse myself in a different land and culture. This makes every overseas vacation I get to go on that much more precious and important to document so that I may look back upon it fondly in many years to come. This is where the new Canon EOS 200DII comes in. With its cutting-edge ability to preserve memories in an astounding quality, you can be instantly transported back in time to your past getaways anytime you like.

Towards the end of May, I cinched the opportunity to enjoy a week-long holiday in Seoul, South Korea, with my best friend. And given that it would be his very first trip to Korea, I just knew that he deserved nothing less than the full experience: Our itinerary was packed with both modern, tourist-friendly hot spots that were famous among the Korean youths, as well as more traditional sites that allowed us to immerse ourselves in South Korea’s unique culture. Of course, I couldn’t think of a better travel companion for the both of us than the Canon EOS 200DII, and here’s why.

Beginner-Friendly, Professional Results

I’m certainly no expert in photography and videography, so the idea of shooting with a DSLR can be pretty intimidating. The Canon EOS 200DII, however, easily banished away these fears with just a single snapshot. Upon holding it, I was instantly impressed by how light it was at a little over 650g, which was perfect for carrying around while I was out and about without being the least bit tired.

The EOS 200DII also boasts multiple innovative features such as the Creative Assist function to keep you at the top of your photography game, regardless of how new you are to shooting. This allows you to choose a recommended or registered effect before shooting. These include vivid or soft effects, and even sepia tones to create professional-looking photographs with ease. Out of the myriad of impressive features that the Canon EOS 200DII graced with me, this proved to be my favourite!

Through the Lens – A Day in the Life of a Local

The Canon EOS 200DII certainly proved itself to be the ultimate travel companion not just by delivering stunning photographs, but also equally splendid videos that effortlessly captured the spirit of Korean culture in all its breathtaking glory. We documented our visit first to Gyeongbokgung Palace, where I got to dress up in a traditional hanbok and watch the ceremony of the Palace Guards. After that we headed to Noryangjin Fishery, where I feasted on octopus sashimi that was still wriggling on its plate! It was incredibly easy to shoot both palace guards and the octopus in motion, because the EOS 200DII has a maximum continuous shooting speed of up to 5 frames per second so that nothing is missed.

We also explored Gwangjang market which is a local haunt filled with traditional, colorful Korean dishes that the Canon EOS 200DII easily captured in mouthwatering 4k movie format. Evidently, this nifty little DSLR proves itself to be a perfect companion for experiencing bits of Korea’s culture that are embedded in the locals’ everyday lives.
