Yes – Apple concluded its list of big announcements earlier today. Some of us are not entirely pleased with the release of the cellphone giants’ new selection of smartphones, but there were some awesome bits of news to take away.
Apple launched three new phones – iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR – along with the Apple Watch Series 4.

You already know the gist of it, but here five things we learned from Apple’s keynote, which happened in the early hours of September 13 (Singapore time).
#1 A12 Bionic
Tech jargon aside, this will be a huge benefit for iPhone fans who get their hands on the new collection. The A12 Bionic will significantly increase the processing speed of the latest iPhones and with that, you can now get storage up to 512GB. And despite all this need for extra power, the iPhone Xs offers 30 minutes longer battery life than the iPhone X, and iPhone Xs Max can run 90 minutes more than the iPhone X.
#2 iOS 12
The best thing about the iOS update is probably the Siri Shortcuts. You will be guaranteed Siri compatibility for all apps. On top of that, Apple has included a new set of privacy upgrades to make sure you are safe from phishing attempts. A less important, but fun change will be within the AR experiences – you can now be more expressive with Animojis and Memojis.
#3 New 12MP Dual Camera System
On the surface, this sounds like the camera in the iPhone X released last year, but here’s the catch. The key change is in the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max’s video capabilities. These phones will be equipped with cameras that have larger pixels, larger and faster sensors, video stabilization, and an extended dynamic range. With four built-in mics, you can now record in stereo.
#4 IP68 Water Resistance
The front and back glass designs on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max claim to be the most durable in all of Apple’s phones. You are promised splash and water resistance of IP68 for up to 2 meters for 30 minutes and protection against everyday spills including coffee, tea and soda.
#5 New ECG App
Probably the most impressive of all the Apple products set to be launched in the coming weeks, the Apple Watch Series 4 takes the cake. Using electrodes built into the Digital Crown and new electrical heart rate sensor in the back crystal, the Series 4 allows you to take an ECG reading right from the wrist using the new ECG app. With watchOS 5, the Apple Watch looks out for your health by analyzing your heart rhythms and will notify you if it detects irregularities.
