Music is something essential in my daily life, and I also enjoy going to live concerts! Before the pandemic struck, I loved going to concerts as the vibe is just so different compared to listening to music on my speakers at home. That’s why I would like to introduce the Sennheiser IE 300 to you.
The IE 300 is an innovative high-fidelity earphone, purpose-built for today’s audio enthusiast that listens with an evolving collection of gear. It features a host of ground-breaking acoustic technologies, creating an effortlessly balanced audiophile listening experience wherever you want one. I did an unboxing video below; check it out!
First off, let’s talk about its aesthetics. It is a pair of wired earbuds with bendable ear hooks connected to the earbud which allows me to bend and conform to the shape of my ear. This ensures maximum comfort and personalisation to every individual’s ear.
It also feels premium, high quality, and durable. It shields me from ambient noise, and my music stays in control in every listening session. The reduction of ambient noise diminishes ear-fatigue for better, longer listening sessions.
Moving on to what I consider the most important aspect: the sound clarity of the IE 300. The driving force of the IE 300 is a refined version of their Extra Wide Band (XWB) 7mm transducer, revered for its breathtaking acoustic performance in a deceptively compact package.
As mentioned previously, I am a fan of concerts as the acoustics of the sound in the stadium makes the whole experience breathtaking. When I tried the IE 300, I was also blown away by its sound clarity. To describe the sound, it gave me subtly warm mids, and clean bass response with low harmonic distortion. It sounded like I was listening to the master recording!
An artist I love is Eric Chou, and hearing him live at the concert, especially his acoustic songs, just felt so different as compared to listening to him on my speakers at home.
However with the IE 300 earbuds, my whole listening experience changed. The earbuds gave me intimate access to the music and I felt like I was there live at his concert. These are some of the songs that I have been listening to on repeat. With these earbuds, every small detail of the song was brought out.
I also love English acoustic songs, so much so that I have a playlist just for them. Some of my favourite songs in the playlist are ‘Heather’ by Conan Grey, ‘2002’ by Amber Leigh Irish, and ‘Best Part’ by Jayesslee.
A key element of the IE 300’s balanced acoustical performance is the back volume – a miniature room-within-a-room that helps manage the flow of air. The direction and overall volume of air is controlled with precision as it travels through and exits the acoustical system. It elevated my listening experience and I could feel the true richness of the songs.
Other than rich sounds, Sennheiser’s engineers were tasked with delivering peerless sound and dependability. They started with ultra-durable gold-plated Fidelity + MMCX cable connectors and seated each within a recessed, 4.8mm-wide socket for outstanding strain relief. The para-aramid reinforced cable is rated for thousands of bend cycles, adding exceptional durability to the overall listening experience.
In addition, Sennheiser provides memory foam ear tips where it conforms to the unique shape of my ear canal for a maximum noise-isolating performance.
Overall, the IE 300 earbuds are lightweight, at only 4g without the cable and with the case, it makes it very portable. The earbuds are also small and fit comfortably into my ears without being too bulky. I love the sound clarity they give, with a strong bass response and low harmonic distortion.
The IE 300 earbuds retail at S$449 at Sennheiser’s official store.
