Two decades after the debut of its first Planet Ocean, OMEGA has launched a bold new chapter for the collection. The 4th generation Planet Ocean, revealed in a comprehensive lineup of seven new watches, represents a complete redesign that pushes the brand’s diving DNA into a more streamlined, technical, and contemporary era.
From a re-engineered case architecture to refined dimensions, integrated bracelets, and advanced materials, the new Planet Ocean signals a major evolution while preserving the essence that made the line an icon since 2005.
A Heritage Built on Exploration
Ever since the Marine of 1932—the world’s first watch for civilian divers—OMEGA has pioneered underwater watchmaking.

This legacy continued through the Seamaster 300 models of the 1950s and 60s, the Seamaster 1000, the PloProf, and later, the globally recognised Seamaster Diver 300M of the 1990s.

The Planet Ocean’s story officially began in 2005, when OMEGA introduced a robust new diver rated to 600 metres, doubling the water-resistance of the Diver 300M.

Over the years, the collection has ushered in numerous industry firsts, from Liquidmetal™ technology (2009) to orange ceramic bezels (2014), to full-ceramic Deep Black models (2016), and the ultra-robust Ultra Deep collection (2022).
The 4th generation continues this trajectory of innovation while resetting the Planet Ocean for the future.
A New Era: The 4th Generation Planet Ocean
At first glance, the transformation is unmistakable. The new Planet Ocean introduces sharper lines, flatter surfaces, and slimmer profiles, combining inspiration from Seamaster models of the 1980s and 90s with a modernised sense of proportion.

All models are sized at 42 mm, honouring the dimensions of the original 2005 release.

Yet the redesign significantly improves wearability: standard 3rd generation models measured 16.1 mm in height, while the new generation has been slimmed to just 13.79 mm, aided by a flat sapphire crystal and a complete structural overhaul.
A Refinement in Case Architecture
The case construction is now split into two parts: a redesigned outer case body and an inner Grade 5 titanium ring engineered to reinforce the watch during deep-sea dives.

This ring is not merely functional; it references the aesthetic inner ring found on early Seamaster 300 watches and the original Planet Ocean of 2005—linking past to present while improving structural integrity at 600 metres of water resistance. In a major styling update, OMEGA has removed the helium escape valve, a defining feature of the line for two decades, resulting in a cleaner silhouette aligned with the collection’s new, sharper angles.

Each watch now features a screw-in titanium caseback, replacing the sapphire crystal used in previous generations.

This improves durability, reduces weight, and contributes to the slimmer profile.

The caseback carries a waved edge, PLANET OCEAN and SEAMASTER engravings, depth rating markings, and the engraved OMEGA Seahorse—an emblem deeply tied to the brand’s maritime legacy.
A Dial That Honours the Past with a Contemporary Edge
All new Planet Ocean models feature a matte black dial with applied arrowhead hands and bold Super-LumiNova indices. The Arabic numerals have been subtly redesigned, taking on an open-worked, squarer typography that echoes the very first Planet Ocean models from 2005 while matching the updated case’s angular lines. Rhodium-plated OMEGA logos and crisp white dial text maintain high contrast and readability.
Ceramic Bezels Perfected in Orange, Blue, and Black
The seven-watch lineup introduces three aesthetic directions:
● Orange Models: Matte-orange varnished numerals, paired with a new orange ceramic bezel (ZrO₂) filled with a white hybrid ceramic diving scale.
● Blue Models: White numerals contrasted with a blue ceramic bezel filled with white enamel.
● Black Models: Rhodium-plated numerals and a black ceramic bezel with white enamel scale.
The orange models are especially significant. Orange has defined the Planet Ocean series since 2005, yet achieving the perfect orange in ceramic has remained one of the industry’s toughest challenges. After considerable material innovation, OMEGA has succeeded in producing a vivid, wearable orange that appears across several of this year’s models.
Powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912
Inside every model is the trusted Calibre 8912, previously used in the Ultra Deep collection. METAS-certified and equipped with a 60-hour power reserve, the movement provides the highest levels of precision, anti-magnetism, and reliability. Its inclusion underscores OMEGA’s commitment to combining refined aesthetics with uncompromising performance.
A Global Campaign Led by Two Hollywood Powerhouses
To celebrate the launch, OMEGA has unveiled a global campaign featuring actors Glen Powell and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Powell wears the signature orange model, while Taylor-Johnson is seen with the blue version. The campaign captures the spirit of exploration and adventure that has always defined the Planet Ocean line, urging audiences to “stand on the shoreline and let the waves of inspiration carry you to your next adventure.
