TYPE XX, which has held an esteemed position for almost seven decades, has been an integral part of aviation history. It has adorned the wrists of pilots as a reliable and precise timekeeping tool, as well as captivated ordinary enthusiasts with its legendary reputation. Now, the esteemed watchmaker Breguet presents a revitalized collection that combines innovation, contemporary elements, and a respectful homage to its historical roots.
TYPE 20 CHRONOGRAPH 2057
This timepiece takes its inspiration from the watches supplied to the French Air Force between 1955 and 1959, known as Type 20, distinguished by Arabic numerals. Unlike other models, such as those used by the Aéronautique Navale, which were labelled as Type XX in Roman numerals. While the black dial has been updated with modern elements, it still maintains the essence of the original Type 20 design.
The watch features luminescent Arabic numerals and a triangle on the bezel, all adorned with a mint green shade, matching the colour of the hands. The 30-minute totalizer, positioned at 3 o’clock, is now larger than the 60-second totalizer at 9 o’clock. Additionally, a date window has been incorporated between 4 and 5 o’clock.

This second timepiece, characterized by its adventurous appearance, is a direct successor to the renowned civilian Type XX watches from the 1950s and 1960s, specifically drawing inspiration from a model produced in 1957 with the individual number 2988. While it shares a black dial with the Type 2057, it possesses several notable differences.
In terms of its display, the 15-minute totalizer is positioned at 3 o’clock, the 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock, and the running seconds at 9 o’clock. Similar to the military-inspired version, the totalizers are proportioned differently to enhance the dial’s dynamic nature and readability. The Arabic numerals, hands, and triangles on the bezel are treated with an ivory-coloured luminescent coating. Furthermore, a date window is located between 4 and 5 o’clock.
