After coming back from the short weekend trip to KL with Canon, it was time to get gears running and creative juices pumping as many articles were due for NXT. It was timely that Lenovo kindly decided to loan me the new Yoga 9i (Gen 8) which is meant to empower creators from inspiration to creation to aid me on my deadline journey.
Here’s a quick overview of the new Yoga 9i (Gen 8). It comes in a 14” screen size which is convenient for me as compared to larger laptops. Equipped with Windows 11, Intel® Core™ i7-1360P on the Intel® Evo™ platform and Smart Ai Engine+, there’s no doubt that the Yoga 9i (Gen 8) will be able to provide performance and stability like no other for creators alike to use with ease.
Excellent display indoors and outdoors
One of my favourite features was the Mini-LED PureSight Pro touch displays that enabled me to work wherever I wanted without compromising clarity. These spectacular new Mini-LED PureSight Pro displays offer a sharper and more realistic visual experience, with incredible colour accuracy. The inclusion of 100% DCI-P3 and 100% Adobe RGB allows a much greater colour gamut and more vibrant images, while the Mini LED option gives an impressive 1200 nits.
Usually with other laptops, there’s always a difficulty to view key visual materials or to edit photos and videos as it was simply not clear and bright enough. Especially during times when you need to be meticulous, all these factors are key to doing it well. With these improved displays, I can now work comfortably be it in my garden, in my office or even at cafes.
Enabling collaboration wherever and whenever
Aside from the Protouch display, with the 360-degree hinge on the Yoga 9i (Gen 8), it has made collaboration with my team easier. I can use the Yoga 9i (Gen 8) like a tablet bringing it around to showcase ideas while brainstorming for new ideas whenever needed. The Yoga 9i (Gen 8) also comes with a touch pen allowing users like myself to both illustrate ideas easier and ideate better visually.
In addition, when bringing the Yoga 9i (Gen 8) around for meetings, I’m thankful for its high-capacity 75Wh battery that was able to power through the whole day without recharging. Even if there was a need, rapid charging swoops in and saves the day.
Smoother user experience all around
As laptops are not only used for work, they are often used for entertainment. Lenovo knew this and partnered with Bowers & Wilkins to build in 4 speakers as well as Dolby Atmos in the 360-degree soundbar. Now when listening to Spotify or tuning in to Netflix during my free time, I am able to enjoy quality audio no matter the location or space I am at.
In addition to the soundbar, the Yoga 9i (Gen 8) is also equipped with the Smart Ai+ engine that is equipped with features like Smart Power, Smart Login, Smart Appearance and more. These features are meant to make the user’s experience much smoother and I have to say my favourite would be the Smart Power which allowed me to utilise the Yoga 9i (Gen 8) for long periods of time with an ultra-cool device.
Overall, it’s perfect for creatives and the hybrid workforce as it is powerful enough to withstand ram-consuming applications while being convenient for mobile users. The Yoga 9i (Gen 8) is currently retailing at $2499 at authorised retailers or you can get it directly from Lenovo online store here.
