I recently got the opportunity to test the new Roborock S8, and I must say, I am impressed with its performance. The S8 comes packed with a plethora of features that make cleaning floors hassle-free and efficient, especially for someone with pets. One of the standout features of the S8 is its 3D Structured Light technology. This feature allows the robot to accurately identify the location and size of obstacles and hazards, even in dimly lit rooms. I found this to be especially helpful when cleaning at night or in areas with lower light levels.
It made me feel confident that the S8 was able to navigate my home without getting stuck or missing any spots. I was impressed that it was able to identify the rooms and areas so accurately. You can see from the image above all the obstacles it identified, from raised platforms, and shoes, to wires. Look at how thoroughly it cleaned my room too!
With 6,000Pa of suction power, the robot can reach deeper and capture debris and dust from hard floors or carpets. I could tell the difference in the cleanliness of my floors after using the S8, especially in areas that tend to accumulate more dirt and debris.
The Roborock S8 also comes equipped with a DuoRoller Multi-directional Floating Brush. This brush allows for deeper cleaning and enhanced vacuuming, all while ensuring fewer hair tangles. As someone with pet hair that seems to get everywhere, I appreciated this feature. It made it much easier for the S8 to pick up all of the hair on my floors without getting tangled up in the process.
The VibraRise 2.0 Mopping System is another standout feature of the S8. It can vibrate at a frequency of 3000 times per minute for better scrubbing while applying 6N pressure. The two vibration modules provide better efficiency, and the mop lifts away up to 5mm when not in use to keep it away from my carpets. I found this feature to be especially helpful in keeping my floors clean and free of any leftover dirt or grime.
Through the app, I can also customise routines such as a full cleaning in the kitchen after my pet’s meals. Additionally, the Off-peak Charging Scheduling feature is an excellent addition that saves energy costs. I can choose off-peak times to charge the robot vacuum, which helps you save on power costs and the costs of using peak-time electricity. The Roborock S8 is equipped with a 5200mAh battery that provides up to 180 minutes of cleaning time.
