Alienware and Dell have launched six new gaming laptops, including Alienware m18 and m16, Alienware x16 and x14, and Dell G16 and G15. These updates bring updated form factors and materials, improved performance upgrades, design, and comfort enhancements, and a revamped Alienware Command Center. Additionally, Alienware’s flagship Aurora R15 now offers AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processors and Intel 13th Gen 65W Desktop processor options.
New Alienware laptops galvanise gamers with elite power, performance and design
Alienware and Dell continue to innovate to meet the changing needs of gamers. They have now introduced a new fleet of high-performance laptops, suitable for both competitive and hobby gamers. The Legend design, which took 19 designers, over 17,000 hours of work, 1,100 images of inspiration, and 48 concept models, is entering its third evolutionary stage. The latest machines bring forward intuitive design features that reinforce interactivity and convenience, all while enabling higher-performing technology.
The new minimal approach to the Legend form is more comfortable to carry in hand, achieved by extruding the thermal shelf at the back of the laptop to create a flatback design. Additionally, it is easier to open and close, with the palm resting giving a more natural feel. Instead of using a single uniform colour to wrap around the entire laptop, the new two-tone design provides greater colour contrast.
Alienware has historically focused on 15″ and 17″ screen sizes, but this changes with the introduction of 16″ and 18″ screen sizes alongside a 14″ model that was unveiled last year. This foundational shift is driven by the improvements delivered via Alienware Cryo-tech thermal solution, which enables them to adopt these larger displays without making significant changes to the footprint of each device.
The new Alienware laptop family features taller 16:10 displays, Dolby Atmos for immersive, spatial sound, and Dolby Vision for stunning visuals. It also includes ComfortView Plus, a hardware-based technology meant to reduce blue light emissions without impacting performance or picture quality. Other features include a higher-resolution FHD webcam, a new bottom foot design that allows airflow through the underbelly, and Element 31 thermal interface material now placed on both the CPU and the GPU.
Meet Alienware’s new performance juggernauts – M18, M16
Alienware m18 and m16 are designed for gamers who prioritize performance, and they come with up to 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX processors and the full stack of next-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop GPUs, plus next-gen AMD Ryzen Processors and Radeon Graphics for mobile. These machines feature Element 31 thermal interface material used on both the CPU and GPU, a vapour chamber covering the GPU and CPU, seven heat pipes, and quad fans with ultra-thin fan blades that increase airflow by 25%.
These significant improvements to platform thermal capacity (~35% using Full Speed modes) and cooling pave the way for higher-performance CPUs and GPUs, allowing us to push the total system power to 250W.
A full-sized keyboard, number pad, optional Cherry MX mechanical keys, two user-replaceable DDR5 SO DIMM slots, and an unparalleled storage capacity of up to 9TB of total storage are all possible with the m18, which impressively retains the same peak thickness (Z-height) as the m17. 165Hz QHD or 480Hz FHD screens with Dynamic Display Switching and support for G-SYNC and FreeSync are two of the available panel options. All of this is strengthened by structural upgrades both inside and out, which allow for a stronger, more solid chassis and fulfil the high build quality standards Alienware consumers demand.
Overall, Alienware and Dell’s new high-performance laptops are suitable for gamers who value freedom without compromise. These updates bring the most notable thermal improvements made to the new Alienware m18 and m16, making them the most powerful laptops in the series. As for pricing and availability, it is currently to be announced. However, when it is out, it will be available at dell.com.sg and the Dell Exclusive Stores in Funan Mall, NEX, Plaza Singapura and VivoCity.
Levelling up Concept Nyx with a new controller concept and game-changing enhancement
Have you ever been in a situation where you want to watch a movie, but someone else in your home wants to keep playing video games? It’s a common scenario, as the living room has become a battleground for conflicting interests. However, last year, our Experience Innovation studios introduced Concept Nyx, an edge gaming concept that allows players to access their gaming libraries across multiple devices and screens.
This year, we’ve taken it further by creating the Concept Nyx Game Controller, designed to recognize the individual user and personalize settings and content. It has a fingerprint reader, haptic feedback, and self-adjusting variable resistance thumbsticks that can be tailored to specific games. It also has intelligent touchpads, scroll wheels, and shift buttons that allow for more front button options. In addition, the controller is paired with fully customizable on-screen controls and overlays to show the button mapping. The built-in Wi-Fi connection directly to Concept Nyx means that it’s possible to multitask and view messaging apps, emails, movies, or games on intuitive split screens.
Furthermore, the improved and simplified Concept Nyx dashboard allows for easy access to games, with new shared experiences that can bring families and friends closer together. We’ve even developed innovative parental tools and dashboards that allow parents to observe, participate, and interact with their children. Finally, we’re experimenting with an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant that can help users find a balance between work and play by listening to their names or responding to certain triggers. While the Concept Nyx Game Controller is a concept and not a product, it shows the potential for future gaming experiences.
