Most PC notebooks in the last couple of years have been able to support external 4K monitors, so if you find that you need 4K resolution for your work, say video editing or content creating, then a portable alternative to upgrading to a new laptop is to get a portable external display. PRISM+ have just launched their Nomad series of 16-inch monitors that are available in three different resolutions, with the PRISM+ Nomad Ultra 4K 16 coming with a Samsung-sourced 15.6-inch 4K OLED touchscreen display so that you can experience ultra-sharp resolution while out and about.
The Nomad Ultra 4K 16 is quite slim and lightweight, weighing slightly less than a kilogram, while its integrated sleeve doubles as a kickstand. I found that carrying the Nomad monitor in my laptop bag was quite effortless, and the addition of a second screen made me more productive, as the second screen enabled me to keep multiple tabs and windows open. Connectivity is simple, via either USB-C or a mini-HDMI port, while the second USB-C port is primarily used to charge the monitor’s battery, for up to four hours of use.
Connected to my smartphone-enabled me to use the Nomad Ultra 4K 16 as a display while my smartphone became a trackpad/keyboard, and the panel’s touchscreen also supports ten-finger multi-touch and touch gestures for Windows 8.1/10 PCs. With fingers or a pen, you may simply navigate by dragging, drawing, flicking, or tapping. This made it convenient for me to toggle between pages.
Blue light filters and anti-glare technologies are built into the portable display, which not only prevents eye strain but also fatigue from long periods of use. The Nomad monitor’s crisp and clear audio quality makes it great for presenting videos or streaming an HD movie.
