VANRAN reveals first demo and gameplay trailer as BECUZUS brings its dark fantasy action RPG to PC in 2026

Independent studio BECUZUS has unveiled the first full gameplay trailer for VANRAN, marking the global debut of its long-anticipated dark fantasy action RPG. Premiering in early January through IGN and major international gaming outlets, the new trailer offers the first extended look at actual in-game footage, moving beyond cinematic teases to reveal real-time combat, traversal and boss encounters.

Slated for release on PC and consoles in December 2026, VANRAN represents years of development under the direction of Sungjae Lee, blending fast-paced action with narrative-driven design rooted in myth and consequence.

A gameplay-first look at VANRAN’s dark fantasy world
Unlike earlier teasers, the newly revealed trailer focuses squarely on gameplay systems and mechanics. Viewers get a clear look at VANRAN’s fluid combat flow, colossal boss fights and its signature Chain system, which allows players to traverse environments dynamically while maintaining offensive pressure.

Following showcase appearances at events such as ChinaJoy and Gamescom, VANRAN has already attracted attention for its emphasis on momentum-driven action. Combat encourages players to stay aggressive, rewarding precise timing through parries, guard breaks and rapid chain shifts that keep encounters tense and constantly evolving.

Storytelling is woven directly into combat
What sets VANRAN apart is how closely its storytelling is tied to play. Rather than separating narrative sequences from action, the game allows the story to unfold organically through exploration and combat. Player actions can alter enemy states, trigger chained events and push the narrative forward without breaking immersion.

Set in a corrupted underworld ruled by demonic forces, VANRAN follows Kaleb, a lone warrior in search of truth and redemption. Drawing inspiration from mythological tales such as Orpheus and Eurydice, as well as Dante’s Divine Comedy, the game delivers an emotionally driven journey shaped by player choice.

Early sections introduce the world and its lore in a guided manner before opening into a more non-linear structure. As exploration deepens, hidden stories, alternate routes and branching outcomes emerge. With no fixed endings, VANRAN places agency and consequence at the heart of its design, allowing each playthrough to unfold differently.

Smarter enemies and technically ambitious battles
On the technical front, VANRAN is powered by BECUZUS’s proprietary hybrid optimisation engine and advanced AI frameworks. Enemies react dynamically in real time, coordinating group tactics and chaining combo attacks to pressure the player.
One of the most ambitious challenges lies in the game’s large-scale boss encounters, particularly the towering “Titan”.

Developing this fight required precise collision handling, adaptive animations and real-time mountable mechanics, highlighting the studio’s focus on spectacle without sacrificing responsiveness.

While VANRAN embraces the intensity associated with soulslike experiences, it also aims to be accessible. Support features ease new players into the systems, while scalable difficulty options ensure depth and challenge remain intact for experienced action RPG fans.

Following the gameplay trailer’s debut, a global demo will be released on Steam, offering players access to Chapter 1 and an early look at Kaleb’s journey.
