Hyundai IONIQ 9 arrives in Singapore as a flagship electric SUV designed around space, comfort and modern family living

Hyundai has officially introduced the IONIQ 9 in Singapore, marking the arrival of its flagship all-electric seven-seater SUV and the next milestone in the IONIQ journey as the brand celebrates ten years of electric innovation. Distributed locally by Komoco Motors, the IONIQ 9 is positioned as a premium, full-sized electric SUV designed for modern, multi-generational households that value space, comfort and sustainability without compromise.

Billed as “The Master of Space,” the IONIQ 9 expands Hyundai’s IONIQ range and reinforces the brand’s ambition to offer the most extensive line-up of seven-seater options in the industry by 2026. Designed with families in mind, the three-row SUV accommodates up to seven occupants and delivers generous legroom across all rows for both adults and children. Its lounge-like interior environment transforms the traditional cabin into a shared living space, encouraging togetherness while meeting the diverse needs of daily commutes, school runs and weekend road trips.

Inside, the IONIQ 9 reflects Hyundai’s “Progress for Humanity” philosophy through thoughtful design and comfort-focused features. The interior adopts calming, nature-inspired tones and elliptical design elements to create a serene atmosphere. The Universal Island 2.0 sliding console can move up to 190 mm rearwards, extending lounge space to second-row passengers while providing easy access to climate and seat ventilation controls. Relaxation seats with leg rests turn waiting time into downtime, while three-zone climate control and roof-mounted air vents ensure third-row comfort even during Singapore’s midday heat.

Externally, the IONIQ 9 is designed as a stylish “anti-van” alternative, blending nautical inspiration with mid-century modern architecture. Its distinctive “aerosthetic” design features a Boat Tail silhouette that tapers inward to reduce drag, achieving an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd. Signature Parametric Pixel lighting at the front and rear adds a unique digital identity, making the IONIQ 9 instantly recognisable on Singapore roads while enhancing visibility and efficiency.

Built on Hyundai Motor’s dedicated E-GMP architecture, the IONIQ 9 is powered by a 110.3 kWh battery that delivers up to 620 km of range (WLPT estimate), allowing drivers to travel confidently across highways and heartlands. Fast-charging capability enables a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in just 24 minutes using a 350 kW charger, while Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality supports multiple devices during outdoor activities or family getaways. Advanced aerodynamic solutions, including a dual-motion active air flap system, further enhance efficiency by optimising airflow only when cooling is required.

The driving experience is engineered for comfort and confidence, supported by refined suspension tuning, frequency-controlled dampers and progressive acceleration that balances strong initial response with relaxed cruising at higher speeds. A quiet cabin is achieved through triple door seals, acoustic glass, sound-absorbing tyres and Active Noise Control-Road technology, complemented by a premium BOSE 14-speaker sound system for an immersive audio experience. Comprehensive driver assistance systems, including Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 and a full suite of advanced safety features, help reduce stress in tight carparks and heavy urban traffic.

The debut of the IONIQ 9 also marks a symbolic moment in Hyundai’s broader IONIQ story, which began in 2016 and has since produced award-winning models such as the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. As Hyundai Singapore celebrates a decade of IONIQ, the IONIQ 9 stands as a beacon for the next ten years, combining human-centric design, progressive engineering and sustainability with a strong sense of purpose.
