With the deadline for my school assignment just around the corner, the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (14’, 8 Gen) came in handy to assist me with my submission. Upon unboxing it, the sleek design and tidal teal outlook instantly caught my eye. It made me pumped to have a first-hand experience with it.
The new Yoga Pro 9i (Gen 8) is the first Yoga series laptop that has a non-convertible touch screen. With a screen size that spans 14.5”, it is functional enough to be working on it and yet, a very convenient size that allows me to work on the go. It also has up to Window 11 Pro, fueled by the 13th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-13905H Processor, with NVIDIA GeForce® RTX™ 40 Series graphics that work well with photo and video editing and also the Lenovo AI Engine+ features.
Working on the new Yoga Pro 9i (Gen 8) has been a smooth and pleasant experience. Unlike most laptops in the market, it comes with a rounded edge which makes it more comfortable for the wrist even after working on it for a long time. Built with a 3-level backlit keyboard, along with slight u-shaped keycaps that are well-spaced and responsive, allowing a very smooth transition when typing. The huge haptic trackpad also works extremely well while using gestures and clicks.
Equipped with the MiniLED PureSight Pro touch display, it proves to be one of the best features of the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (Gen 8). In any environment, be it a dimly lit room or right under the beaming sun, the screen does not compromise vibrancy or clarity, ensuring we users have the best visual experience. Thus, allowing me the flexibility to work wherever I choose to, indoors or outdoors.
Engaging in long video calls and conducting research is part and parcel of being a university student. Having a laptop that is able to withstand long hours is extremely vital. Thankfully, the new Yoga Pro 9i (Gen 8) is equipped with a long-lasting battery of up to 14 hours. Thus, I do not have to worry if I have to work without a power socket within sight.
Recently, I have been travelling quite a bit and have plenty of photos in the backlog waiting to get edited before going onto my social media. With the help of Intel® Unison ™, I was able to connect and transfer files and photos with ease. All I had to do was to install the Intel Unison app on my mobile phone, scan the QR code that appears on my Intel Unison PC app and I could start sharing my files almost instantly. It also helps to manage my notifications, calls and texts without having to reach out for my phone.
With the NVIDIA GeForce® RTX™ 40 Series graphics, it benefitted me tremendously in my photo editing process. The extensive dynamic range and its detailed realistic colour accuracy allow me to be fully immersed in the sights displayed on the screen, as though I was back there in person to experience it first-hand again. The stress of having long rendering time when editing videos was no longer a concern for me with the aid of the 13th Gen Intel Core custom processors and Lenovo X Power custom performance tuning solution.
Laptops are not only meant for work, they can also be used for entertainment and gaming. After a long day of work, I will end my day catching up on my favourite Netflix series – Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The 3.2K MINI LED PureSight Pro display has an amazing contrast ratio and the overall colour reproduction is impeccable. Not forgetting the quad speakers with Dolby Atmos®, high-quality speakers backed with amazing bass, providing an all-around stunning and immersive experience for viewers.
At the end of the day, I was able to avoid overnight charging as it is backed with a 75Wh battery and an a140W power adapter that charges the laptop via USB-C which supports its rapid charge feature and I was able to get a full charge in around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
All in all, it is a perfect all-rounder laptop that caters to people from all walks of life, be it a student, or a working professional. The new Yoga Pro 9i significantly helped to improve my productivity level with the various features it has.
