POCO is putting battery life front and centre with the new POCO X8, a smartphone designed for users who want plenty of power, a large display and reliable everyday performance without constantly reaching for a charger.
An 8,340mAh Battery Built to Last
The biggest highlight of the POCO X8 is its upgraded 8,340mAh (typ) battery, which offers 63.2% more capacity than its predecessor. POCO says the phone can deliver more than two days of battery life on a single charge, making it particularly suited to heavy users who spend long hours streaming, gaming, browsing or staying connected.
The battery uses silicon-carbon technology with 13% silicon content, helping pack more energy into the device while maintaining a high energy density. It is also rated to retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, equivalent to around six years of regular use.
The battery has also undergone testing across extreme temperatures, mechanical stress and repeated charging cycles, earning the TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification.
When it does eventually run low, 67W HyperCharge provides faster top-ups. The phone also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to double as a portable power source for other devices.
A Bigger, Brighter Display
The POCO X8 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K ultra-bright display, giving users more screen real estate for watching videos, gaming and browsing.
Brightness reaches up to 3,500 nits across 25% of the display, helping content remain visible even in bright outdoor conditions. The display also uses a flagship-grade luminous material designed to deliver brighter visuals while improving power efficiency.
For longer viewing sessions, the POCO X8 includes TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications, adding features to reduce visual discomfort during extended use.
Built for Everyday Adventures
The X8 takes a minimalist approach to its design, combining geometric elements and sharp lines with a sandblasted middle frame for a more comfortable grip.
The flat display and narrow bezels give the front a clean look while maximising screen space.
Durability is another major focus. The POCO X8 comes with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings, giving it protection against a range of everyday conditions.
It also introduces Underwater Mode, POCO’s first feature of its kind, which lets users capture photos and videos underwater. It could come in handy for recording moments in the pool or even taking a closer look at fish in an aquarium.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, with POCO claiming protection against direct drops of up to three metres, along with improved resistance against scratches and impacts.
Everyday Performance with HyperOS 3
Under the hood, the POCO X8 runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, built using a 4nm process. Paired with an integrated Adreno GPU, the platform is designed to handle everyday tasks such as launching apps, multitasking and switching between applications, while also providing enough graphics performance for gaming and other demanding workloads.
The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3, bringing a range of connected and AI-powered features to the device.
This includes Xiaomi HyperIsland for quick access to smart features and Google Gemini as an integrated AI assistant.
The POCO X8 also supports Xiaomi Offline Communication, allowing users to stay connected even when conventional network coverage isn’t available. Audio can also be boosted by up to 300%, which should prove useful when watching videos or listening to content in noisier environments.
Cameras Designed for Everyday Content
For photography, the POCO X8 features a 50MP main camera with OIS and EIS, paired with a 16MP front-facing camera.
The camera system is designed to produce more natural-looking portraits while maintaining detail across different lighting conditions. For content creators, Dual Video allows the front and rear cameras to record simultaneously, making it possible to capture both the user and their surroundings in a single video.
The phone also brings a selection of AI-powered editing tools for post-processing. These include AI Glare Removal, AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, AI Image Enhancement and AI Beautify, giving users several ways to clean up or enhance their photos without relying on third-party editing apps.
