Girard-Perregaux is no stranger to rewriting horological history. This time, the Swiss luxury watchmaker takes a bold plunge into its archives, resurfacing with the EP Diver Legacy Edition in partnership with the Bamford Watch Department. A modern reinterpretation of the original 1969 Deep Diver, this limited-edition timepiece is the latest to join the prestigious Legacy Editions collection, and it’s every bit as collectable as it is wearable.
A Design Born in a Daring Decade
The 1960s were a time of experimentation in technology, art, and design. Girard-Perregaux’s 1969 Deep Diver (Reference 9108) embodied that fearless spirit.
Its cushion-shaped case and Gyromatic system were groundbreaking at the time. Now, more than five decades later, the EP Diver Legacy Edition resurrects that same spirit, blending vintage aesthetics with modern craftsmanship.
The new model retains the bold geometry of the original while referencing the eye-catching dial design of the 1971 variant. The result is a striking watch that captures the soul of the era while appealing to today’s discerning collector.
Vintage Vibes, Modern Comfort
What sets the EP Diver Legacy Edition apart is its vibrant and thoughtful design. Hints of electric blue, orange, and crisp white give the dial a pop-art flair. The cushion-shaped case, made of lightweight Grade 5 titanium, measures a wearable 40.30mm by 38.00mm, perfectly sized for comfort without compromising on presence.
Functional touches like a rotating inner bezel (adjusted via a crown at 2 o’clock), luminous markers, and retro-styled numerals make it both useful and visually engaging. Meanwhile, the dual crowns, echoing the 1969 model, offer symmetrical balance, a nod to the brand’s historic devotion to precision design.
A quick-release system for the strap adds versatility, letting wearers switch between the included blue and orange rubber straps with ease, no tools needed.
Precision Inside: The GP03300 Calibre
At the heart of the watch is the GP03300 calibre, an in-house movement developed in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Just 3.36mm thick and offering a 46-hour power reserve, the calibre upholds Girard-Perregaux’s reputation for mechanical finesse and reliability.
The Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver Legacy Edition retailing at SGD 22,400 (with tax), the EP Diver Legacy Edition is now available in select boutiques and online.
