DANIEL ROTH, synonymous with horological elegance, has taken another step in its celebrated revival with the release of the Tourbillon Rose Gold. Following the success of last year’s Tourbillon Souscription in yellow gold, limited to only 20 pieces, the Tourbillon Rose Gold brings a modern, luxurious twist to the brand’s iconic design. This time, DANIEL ROTH draws on the warm tones of rose gold, offering a 5N rose gold case paired with a matching guilloche dial to create a striking “pink on pink” aesthetic that resonates with modern sophistication and timeless charm.
A Homage to a Classic with Contemporary Refinements
The Tourbillon Rose Gold is inspired by the original Tourbillon C187, designed by Daniel Roth himself. This pioneering design was the first wristwatch to showcase a large tourbillon directly on the dial, setting a standard for aesthetics and innovation.
The 5N rose gold, often called “red gold” for its rich, warm tone, adds a new dimension to this classic. According to DANIEL ROTH’s Artistic Director Matthieu Hegi, “Rose gold is a vivid, modern metal that remains rooted in classical watchmaking. It’s an evolution from the vintage feel of the yellow gold, offering a refined aesthetic that balances tradition with modern elegance.”
The double-ellipse case, an iconic design originally crafted by Roth in 1988, has been subtly refined to retain its timeless appeal. This unique shape, blending a square and a circle, not only serves as an aesthetic feature but also frames the visible tourbillon at six o’clock—a design choice that has become a DANIEL ROTH signature.
Unveiling the DR001 Calibre: A Masterpiece of Horological Craftsmanship
At the heart of the Tourbillon Rose Gold is the DR001 calibre, a movement developed in-house by legendary watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini. Unlike the Tourbillon Souscription, where the movement was hidden, the Tourbillon Rose Gold allows a full view of this meticulously crafted calibre through a sapphire case back.
With elements of traditional haute horlogerie, such as Côtes de Genève finishing and mirror-polished screws, the DR001 exemplifies DANIEL ROTH’s dedication to horological excellence.
The DR001’s bridges feature vertical Côtes de Genève patterns that mirror the guilloche lines on the dial, while the tourbillon carriage is held in place by a black-polished steel bridge. The movement is further accented by gold chatons, providing a striking contrast to the steel components.
An Artisanal Dial Crafted for True Collectors
Created in collaboration with master craftsman Kari Voutilainen, the dial is meticulously guilloched by hand using a traditional straight-line engine, producing a linear pattern known as guillochage en ligne.
This vertical guilloche, paired with glossy black lacquer markings and black-coated stainless steel hands, creates a dynamic, textured backdrop that enhances the vivid rose gold tone. Collectors will recognize this guilloche style as a nod to the original C187, further emphasizing the brand’s connection to its roots.
Limited Edition Exclusivity and Enduring Appeal
Each Tourbillon Rose Gold watch is individually numbered starting from “21,” continuing from the limited Tourbillon Souscription series. Due to the labour-intensive nature of its artisanal production, only 50 pieces of the Tourbillon Rose Gold will be crafted each year, ensuring its exclusivity and collectable status.
The retail price of the Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold is set at SGD 265,000.
