At this year’s Geneva Watch Days, Girard-Perregaux continues to push the boundaries of haute horlogerie, unveiling two striking new additions to its Bridges collection. These timepieces, the La Esmeralda ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition Honey and an updated Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges are masterful expressions of craftsmanship that play with light in mesmerizing ways.
La Esmeralda ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition Honey
This new version of La Esmeralda Tourbillon’s ‘A Secret’ takes inspiration from the scenic beauty of La Chaux-de-Fonds, where the natural light has always influenced Girard-Perregaux’s design ethos.
In warm, honey-hued tones and pink gold accents, this timepiece captures the essence of the golden landscape surrounding the Swiss city, imbuing the watch with a unique luminosity.
Crafted with exquisite detailing, the La Esmeralda ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition Honey showcases the brand’s rich heritage, which dates back to the 19th century when Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux founded the now-renowned house of haute horlogerie.
This model pays homage to their legacy, blending heritage with modern design.
Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges
The updated Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges is a technical marvel, demonstrating Girard-Perregaux’s mastery of skeletonized watchmaking.
The three iconic gold bridges appear to float within the case, suspended by open-worked plinths that project an almost ethereal look. These bridges not only support key components like the geartrain and barrel but also serve as the architectural backbone of the movement.
This year’s iteration introduces several subtle but significant improvements. The indexes feature a new twin baton design at noon, while sapphire crystals have been curved to offer a more symmetrical profile. The crown is now rounder and easier to manipulate, and the shortened lugs and rounder case ensure a more comfortable fit, particularly for wearers with slimmer wrists.
Other enhancements include satin-finished hour and minute hands with increased Super-LumiNova, improving readability in low light. The watch is offered with two strap options: a fabric-effect strap and a classic black alligator strap, both enhanced with a gold effect.
The two new additions to the Bridges collection are a testament to Girard-Perregaux’s dedication to innovation and artistry, blending heritage with cutting-edge design.
Both models will be available for viewing during Geneva Watch Days 2024, promising to captivate watch enthusiasts and collectors alike.
