Nothing has unveiled the Phone (2a) Special Edition, celebrating colour through its latest smartphone. True to Nothing’s ethos, the design is distilled to its essence, emphasizing transparency and simplicity. The Nothing Industrial Design Team in King’s Cross, London, has used primary colours—red, yellow, and blue—to create a unique colourway for this special edition.

This new edition marks the first time all three primary colours have been incorporated into one Nothing product. Previously, red appeared in the right earbud of all Nothing audio products, yellow in the new Ear (a), and blue in the Phone (2a) Blue. Now, these colours come together in a single device.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Phone (2a) Special Edition, our first product to explore the primary colour palette of red, blue, and yellow,” said Adam Bates, Design Director at Nothing. “The aesthetic draws inspiration from our design heroes of the past while creating a new expression for a smartphone, transforming a functional device into a striking piece of art.”

The Special Edition retains the impressive features of the original Phone (2a), including the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro processor, the smooth Nothing OS, and a long-lasting 5,000 mAh battery. It boasts a 6.7” flexible AMOLED display and a dual 50 MP rear camera, showcasing Nothing’s distinctive design through its hardware and The Glyph Interface.

Since its launch, Phone (2a) has made a significant impact, selling 100,000 units in just a few hours. The Nothing software team has released 13 updates to enhance camera performance, including optimizing colour consistency in the main wide-angle sensor, improving portrait brightness in HDR scenes, and enhancing the camera app’s opening performance.

The Phone (2a) and its predecessors also feature industry-first ChatGPT integration when paired with any Nothing or CMF by Nothing audio product. Additionally, new ChatGPT widgets offer quick and easy access from the smartphone home screen. Nothing recently announced that Phone (2a) users can now access the Android 15 Developer Preview.
