Review: HONOR Magic V2

Lightest and Thinnest

Honor Magic V2 is a new benchmark in foldable smartphones

From the moment I laid eyes on the Magic V2, I knew this was not just another smartphone; it was a pioneering leap in mobile technology. Touted as the world’s thinnest and lightest inward-foldable smartphone, the Magic V2 is a marvel of engineering and design.

When I first held the Magic V2, its ultra-slim design was immediately noticeable. Weighing only 231g and measuring just 9.9mm in thickness when folded, it felt incredibly light and compact in my hands. The sleekness is achieved through HONOR’s meticulous refinement of product structure, manufacturing, and material selection.

The Super-light Titanium Hinge is a standout feature, striking a perfect balance between weight and strength. This robust hinge mechanism, fortified with HONOR’s proprietary steel, has passed the SGS durability certification, assuring me of its resilience for over 400,000 folds.

Turning on the device, I was greeted by the vibrant foldable OLED LTPO display. The screen, boasting 1.07 billion colours, offered an immersive experience with exceptional colour accuracy. The 3840Hz PWM Dimming technology, a feature
that minimises eye strain, is particularly beneficial for someone like me who spends hours on their phone.

The Dynamic Dimming, which adapts the display brightness to external lighting and screen time, ensured optimal comfort for my eyes. I am also impressed with the Magic V2’s camera capabilities.

Its triple rear camera setup, with a 50MP main camera, excels in various lighting conditions. The dual 16MP front cameras, with multiple capture modes, facilitate high-quality content creation.

The Magic V2 is powered by MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13, offering a seamless and secure user experience. The new parallel space feature, allowing the segregation of work and personal apps, is a smart addition for the modern professional.

The device’s dual Silicon-carbon Batteries, with a thickness of only 2.72mm and a 5000mAh capacity, support 66W HONOR SuperCharge. This means I can stay connected for longer periods without the need for constant recharging. Additionally, the Circadian Night Display feature, which adjusts screen colours for reduced eye strain and improved sleep quality, is a thoughtful inclusion for health-conscious users.

The Magic V2 is available in three elegant colours – Purple, Black, and Black PU with a vegan leather back. It’s a device that doesn’t just meet the current technological demands but exceeds them, offering a glimpse into the future of smartphone innovation.

We say: The HONOR Magic V2, with its blend of style, durability, and performance, is a testament to HONOR’s vision and craftsmanship.
