When Classic Design Meets Cutting-Edge Performance with Nikon Z f

Nikon Singapore Pte. Ltd. has unveiled the Z f, a remarkable mirrorless camera that seamlessly combines a classic design inspired by an iconic Nikon film camera with cutting-edge performance capabilities. This camera boasts a full-frame sensor and the same EXPEED 7 image-processing engine found in the flagship Nikon Z 9 mirrorless camera, enabling advanced photography and videography. Beyond its sleek design, the Z f features state-of-the-art technologies like exceptional autofocus (AF) and vibration reduction (VR) performance, catering to the needs of creative individuals seeking diverse forms of expression.

John Young, General Manager of International Marketing, International Business Division at Nikon Singapore Pte. Ltd., commented on this release, stating, “The Z f empowers creators to elevate their craft and bring their creative visions to life through groundbreaking experiences. With the latest EXPEED 7 processing engine, the Z f introduces several firsts for Nikon, including a dedicated monochrome selector, a Vari-angle screen on a full-frame camera, and focus point VR.”

Push Boundaries, Express Individuality
The Z f encourages users to express their uniqueness with a dedicated monochrome selector. It offers “Flat Monochrome” and “Deep Tone Monochrome” settings in addition to the conventional “Monochrome” mode, allowing users to create captivating black and white photos and videos. This feature opens up possibilities for capturing a wide range of scenes, from landscapes to portraits and street photography. Users can easily switch to monochrome mode to focus on playing with light and shadow during their shoots.

Creative Control
The Z f provides creative control over both stills and videos with its Picture Control and Creative Picture Control functions. These functions enable users to convey the mood, temperature, and atmosphere of their subject at the time of capture. Wedding and portrait photographers will appreciate the new Rich-tone portrait setting, which preserves skin details while delivering rich tones. With 20 Creative Picture Control options and 11 Picture Control options, users can preview their chosen effects in real-time through the camera’s viewfinder.

Enhanced Video Performance
The Z f enhances video capabilities, offering H.265 10-bit in-camera recording and support for N-Log/HLG recording. These features ensure an accurate and beautiful depiction of subjects with intricate details, including landscapes, architecture, and portraits. The camera can record up to 125 minutes of 4K UHD/60p video, and it supports 4K UHD video recording using 6K oversampling for high-resolution content. The Video S mode allows for precise auto exposure control, making it ideal for changing lighting conditions.

Pixel-Shift Shooting
A new feature introduced with the Z f is pixel-shift shooting, which enables the capture of high-definition images with intricate details. Users can shoot multiple NEF (RAW) files with slight image sensor shifts when the camera is mounted on a tripod. These files can then be merged using NX Studio to create high-resolution images with improved colour reproduction and reduced artefacts, making them perfect for subjects with intricate details.

Advanced AF and VR Performance
The Z f boasts superior AF performance with support for various shooting scenarios. It offers 3D-tracking in photo mode and subject-tracking in video mode, even tracking moving subjects like pets and vehicles. The AF can detect faces as small as 3%, making it highly effective in low-light situations, down to -10 EV. The Z f also provides improved tracking capabilities and a wider range of focus points for capturing challenging subjects with precision.

Impressive VR Capabilities
The in-camera Vibration Reduction (VR) of the Z f provides up to 8.0 stops of stabilization, enabling handheld shooting in low-light conditions and during long exposures. Additionally, it incorporates VR for focus points, reducing blur even when subjects are at the periphery of the frame.

Innovative Design
The Z f is the first full-frame/FX-format Z series camera to feature a Vari-angle monitor, allowing flexible composition for both stills and videos, including overhead and low-angle shots. It’s also the first touch-operation camera in the Z series, making it easier for users to adjust settings through the monitor while framing their shots.

Meticulous Craftsmanship
Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the Z f inherits the philosophy of the iconic FM2 camera, offering a glossy black finish on a magnesium body. Its brass dials not only exude quality but also provide a comfortable, tactile feel for users.

The Nikon Z f is set to redefine creative photography and videography with its blend of heritage design and cutting-edge technology. For more information on the Z f and other Nikon products, visit Nikon’s official website.
