The new Leica Watch Monochrom Edition draws inspiration from the recently launched Leica M11 Monochrom camera and pays homage to the core principles of black and white photography: contrast and light. Creating something that is simultaneously subtle and detailed requires deep knowledge of the products, years of expertise, and perhaps a touch of determination. The watch showcases remarkable tones and subtle variations, immersing itself in a symphony of shadows and reflections that brim with intricate details. It uncovers depth within simplicity and establishes a harmonious connection between two exceptional Leica products.

The Leica ZM Monochrom Edition boasts a distinctive design that eliminates all colour and silver tones, except for the iconic red dot, resulting in a truly minimalist aesthetic. Underneath the anti-reflective and strongly curved sapphire crystal, you’ll find black rhodium-plated, diamond-cut, sandblasted indices and hands. The deal, including its markers, is precision-milled from a solid block of high-strength aluminium to enhance its resistance to shocks. Additionally, the Monochrom Edition watch strap matches the texture of the M11 Monochrom camera, crafted from thick, durable black calf leather using a cut-edge construction with hand-stitching. This supports the robust yet refined appearance of the Leica ZM Monochrom Edition.

The Leica Watch collection encompasses two models, both featuring an in-house developed and produced mechanical hand-wound movement: the Leica ZM 1 and Leica ZM 2. These models are now available in the new Monochrom Edition. Staying true to Leica’s holistic approach to its product portfolio, the “ZM” in the watch collection name represents “Zeitmesser,” the German term for an instrument that measures and displays time. Launched in February 2022, the Leica Watch Collection quickly became highly sought after by Leica enthusiasts and watch aficionados, with only a limited number available for purchase in select Leica Stores worldwide. Following this success, the ZM collection will expand to include the Monochrome Edition and will soon be available in up to 25 Leica stores globally.

The Leica ZM stands out even in the competitive and advanced watch market. It exudes the distinct Leica style, featuring its own unique design language and offering unconventional solutions to traditional timekeeping functions. The patented push-crown, with a simple push, halts the movement, resets the second’s hand to zero, and facilitates easy time-setting.
This innovative approach to a commonly used function sets the Leica ZM apart, exemplifying its typical Leica product characteristics, despite not being a camera. Additionally, the Leica ZM 2 incorporates a GMT function (Greenwich Mean Time) and a day/night indicator, enabling the wearer to monitor two time zones with a single set of hands.
The new Leica ZM Monochrom Edition will be available now at selected Leica stores worldwide, including Singapore. The retail price starts at €11,550.00 (~S$17,080) for the Leica ZM 1 Monochrom and €15,450.00 (~S$22,847) for the Leica ZM 2 Monochrom.
