LG and Qualcomm have announced a partnership to research and develop connectivity solutions for cars. Both companies will establish a joint research center in South Korea. This research center will research and develop 5G for vehicles and Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology.
Two Electronics Giants Come Together
LG and Qualcomm are both familiar names in the field of mobile innovation. Now, with this partnership, they bring decades of R&D experience and knowledge of mobile technology to come up with solutions for next-generation cars.
Kim Jin-yong, executive vice president of LG’s Vehicle Components Smart Business Unit had this to say. He expressed the belief that the “combined research strength of Qualcomm and LG will yield benefits that would not be feasible working independently.”
Next Generation Car Solutions
Nakul Duggal, vice president of product management at Qualcomm, emphasised the companies’ “continued commitment to the development of advanced solutions for safe, connected, and increasingly autonomous vehicles.”
The collaboration will begin effective immediately. The research center will be based out of LG Electronics’ Science Park in Seoul.
