Apple is giving its iconic all-in-one desktop a significant performance boost with the introduction of the new 24-inch iMac powered by the M6 chip. Combining faster processing speeds, advanced AI capabilities and improved connectivity, the latest iMac is designed to make everything from everyday productivity to creative projects feel more seamless.<\/p>\n
Retaining its signature ultra-thin design, the new iMac comes in seven vibrant colours \u2014 blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. Whether placed in a home office, creative studio or family living space, it continues to blend powerful desktop computing with a distinctive aesthetic.<\/p>\n
M6 Delivers a Major Leap in Performance<\/strong> According to Apple, the new iMac delivers up to 1.5 times faster productivity performance and twice the graphics performance compared to the M4 model. For users upgrading from an M1 iMac, the improvements are even more substantial, with up to 2.5 times faster performance in applications such as Microsoft Excel and up to 3.3 times faster graphics performance in photo-editing applications such as Affinity.<\/p>\n Those still using an Intel-based iMac can expect an even bigger leap, with Apple claiming performance improvements of up to 18 times compared to its most popular Intel-based model.<\/p>\n The M6 also introduces Neural Accelerators in each GPU core, alongside a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and memory bandwidth of up to 170GB\/s. Together, these enhancements accelerate AI workloads, creative applications and graphics-intensive tasks, including gaming with ray tracing.<\/p>\n For photographers, video editors and content creators, this translates into smoother editing, faster processing and greater flexibility when working with demanding projects.<\/p>\n Apple Intelligence Makes the iMac Smarter.<\/strong> Running macOS 27 Golden Gate, the desktop introduces the next generation of Apple Intelligence, including Siri AI, a more conversational and context-aware assistant designed to help users complete tasks more naturally.<\/p>\n Instead of relying on rigid voice commands, users can ask Siri questions, search for information across messages, emails and photos, and perform actions across supported applications.<\/p>\n Siri AI is also integrated directly into Spotlight, allowing users to search for information and ask follow-up questions without switching between applications.<\/p>\n Another useful addition is Visual Intelligence, which lets users ask Siri about content displayed on their screen. For instance, someone working on a spreadsheet can request an explanation of a chart, while a student researching a topic can ask questions about an image or webpage.<\/p>\n Writing assistance has also become more intuitive, with Siri able to help draft and edit text across supported applications. In Mail and Messages, it can even adapt suggestions to reflect a user’s typical writing style and tone.<\/p>\n For developers and AI enthusiasts, the M6 provides enough computing power to run supported local AI models through applications such as LM Studio Bionic. Apple claims up to 12 times faster on-device AI prompt processing compared to the M1 iMac, making the desktop a more capable platform for experimenting with generative AI while keeping data on the device. Faster Connectivity for Modern Workflows<\/strong> For users who prefer wired networking, models equipped with the 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU offer an optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection, delivering up to 2.5 times faster wired speeds than the previous generation.<\/p>\n Storage performance has also improved, with SSD read and write speeds up to twice as fast as before. This means large photo libraries, video projects and applications can load more quickly, helping reduce waiting time during demanding workflows.<\/p>\n Depending on the configuration, the iMac supports up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports for connecting external storage, docks and other accessories. Higher-end models can also drive up to two external 6K displays, creating an expansive workspace for professionals who need additional screen space.<\/p>\n A Stunning 4.5K Retina Display<\/strong> With 500 nits of brightness and support for the P3 wide colour gamut, the display reproduces over one billion colours, making it well suited for photo editing, graphic design and entertainment.<\/p>\n For users working in brightly lit environments, a nano-texture glass option is available on higher-end configurations to help reduce reflections and glare.<\/p>\n The display is complemented by a 12MP Centre Stage camera, which automatically keeps users framed during video calls.
