Huawei is taking its unusual wide-screen smartphone concept beyond foldables with the HUAWEI Pura X View. This new flagship challenges the increasingly tall and narrow proportions of conventional smartphones.<\/p>\n

Following the foldable Pura X, the Pura X View adopts a traditional non-folding design but introduces a distinctive 16:9.5 aspect ratio. Huawei says the wider format is intended to provide more usable display area for photos, video, comics, reading and other content without requiring a foldable device.<\/p>\n

Huawei officially unveiled the Pura X View in China on September 7, and it went on sale on now, with prices starting at RMB 5,999.<\/p>\n

A Wider Take on the Conventional Smartphone<\/strong>
\nThe defining feature is its 6.39-inch OLED display, which uses the unconventional 16:9.5 format rather than the taller screens found on most modern smartphones.<\/p>\n

Despite its relatively modest diagonal measurement, Huawei says the wider proportions provide a display area of 11,427 mm\u00b2. Extremely narrow 1.05mm bezels on all four sides contribute to a claimed 96.1 per cent screen-to-body ratio.<\/p>\n

The panel has a 2232 x 1320 resolution, supports refresh rates up to 120Hz and reaches a claimed local peak brightness of 6,500 nits. It also supports 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.<\/p>\n

Huawei is positioning the format as particularly useful for content consumption. A wider portrait view can accommodate more text and imagery, while turning the phone sideways provides proportions closer to conventional video.<\/p>\n

The phone measures 144.1 x 87 x 6.68mm and weighs around 201g, making it noticeably wider than a typical smartphone while remaining relatively thin.<\/p>\n

7,000mAh Battery in a 6.68mm Body<\/strong>
\nThe unconventional proportions have also given Huawei more internal space to work with.<\/p>\n

Despite measuring just 6.68mm thick, the Pura X View houses a 7,000mAh battery. Huawei says it uses a new high-silicon anode design with an energy density of 922Wh\/L, alongside redesigned internal components to maximise the space available for the battery.<\/p>\n

That combination of a relatively thin body and unusually large battery is likely to be one of the Pura X View’s more practical attractions, particularly for users consuming large amounts of video and other content on the wider display.<\/p>\n

200MP XMAGE Camera Leads the Rear System<\/strong>
\nPhotography is another major focus, with the Pura X View featuring Huawei’s latest XMAGE imaging system.<\/p>\n

Its primary camera uses a 200-megapixel sensor with an f\/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation. Huawei is particularly highlighting the resolution available for cropping and reframing photographs after they have been captured.<\/p>\n

It is joined by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide macro camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an f\/2.6 aperture and optical image stabilisation. The telephoto provides approximately 3.7x optical zoom, while digital zoom extends to 100x.<\/p>\n

The system also incorporates Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple colour imaging technology, designed to improve colour reproduction across different subjects and lighting conditions.<\/p>\n

Kirin 9030S and HarmonyOS 7<\/strong>
\nUnderneath, the Pura X View is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030S processor and runs HarmonyOS 7.<\/p>\n\t\t\t
