Konstantin Chaykin has expanded his distinctive family of Wristmons with the Wolf, a new character that combines East Asian symbolism, playful design and an unconventional take on the moonphase complication.<\/p>\n
Unveiled in Singapore on September 2, 2026, Wolf is the second model in Chaykin\u2019s \u201cEast\u201d collection, following the Panda Titanium introduced in 2025. This time, the watchmaker turns to the wolf and its associations with ancestry, strength and guidance, translating those ideas into the expressive face that has become a signature of the Wristmons series.<\/p>\n
A Wolf Ready for the Hunt<\/strong> The overall expression is noticeably more predatory than some of Chaykin\u2019s more whimsical Wristmons. The wolf appears alert and ready to hunt, helped by pronounced brow ridges, an open mouth and prominent white fangs.<\/p>\n Texture plays an important role in creating the character. Wavy guilloch\u00e9 across the dial suggests the direction and movement of fur, complemented by geometric relief and sandblasted surfaces around the brow. Polished elements provide contrast, while a predominantly black, grey and silver palette is interrupted by the white teeth and dark red interior of the mouth.<\/p>\n A Different Kind of Moonphase<\/strong> Instead of fitting the watch with a conventional moonphase display showing the progression of the lunar cycle, Chaykin has created a full-moon period indicator that becomes part of the wolf’s expression.<\/p>\n A red disc gradually emerges in the mouth on the day before a full moon and remains visible through the following day. It then jumps back and disappears. The same disc doubles visually as the wolf’s tongue, sitting between its white fangs.<\/p>\n It is an inventive way of integrating a mechanical indication into the character rather than simply adding another complication to the dial. The moon becomes particularly appropriate for the Wolf, given the long-standing cultural imagery connecting wolves with the full moon.<\/p>\n The Joker Mechanism Evolves Again<\/strong> Inside Wolf is the automatic K.18-28 calibre, which is based on the Swiss La Joux-Perret G200 and further modified by the Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture to accommodate the character’s displays and new full-moon indication.<\/p>\n The automatic movement provides a 68-hour power reserve, giving the watch close to three days of running time when fully wound.<\/p>\n Character Watch With Mechanical Substance<\/strong> Unlike some highly limited character watches, Wolf is being produced as an unlimited edition, making it a continuing member of the Wristmons family rather than a short-run release.<\/p>\n That also gives the \u201cEast\u201d collection room to develop into a broader cast of characters.
