Apple has refreshed its desktop Mac lineup with new versions of the Mac mini and Mac Studio, putting artificial intelligence and professional performance at the centre of both machines.<\/p>\n

The new Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The new Mac mini is available with the all-new M6 or M5 Pro, while Mac Studio moves to M5 Max and the new M5 Ultra. Across the range, Apple is promising faster AI processing, stronger graphics, higher memory bandwidth and upgraded connectivity, while retaining the compact designs that define both desktops.<\/p>\n

Mac mini Gets Its Biggest AI Upgrade Yet.<\/strong>
\nThe headline change for the Mac mini is the introduction of M6, Apple\u2019s first chip built on a 2-nanometre process.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The new chip features a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in every core, a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and up to 170GB\/s of unified memory bandwidth. Apple says the result is up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster graphics and storage, and 40% faster CPU performance compared with the previous M4-based Mac mini.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The M6 version comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard and can be configured with up to 32GB, making it suitable for everything from everyday productivity and coding to on-device AI workloads and gaming.<\/p>\n

For heavier professional work, the Mac mini with M5 Pro pushes performance further with up to an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU and support for up to 64GB of unified memory. Apple is targeting users working in areas such as app development, video production, 3D design and game development.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Connectivity also receives a significant upgrade. Both new Mac mini models support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet, with 10Gb Ethernet available as an option. The M6 model includes Thunderbolt 4, while M5 Pro steps up to Thunderbolt 5.<\/p>\n

M6 Is Built With AI in Mind<\/strong>
\nApple is positioning M6 as more than a conventional performance upgrade.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The chip\u2019s Dual 16-core Neural Engine can deliver up to twice the peak compute of the previous generation, while Neural Accelerators integrated into the GPU are designed to speed up local large language models and other AI workloads.<\/p>\n

M6 can deliver up to 13.5x faster LLM prompt processing in LM Studio compared with the original M1 Mac mini, as well as up to 2x faster ray-traced gaming performance in Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition compared with M4.<\/p>\n

The chip also supports Apple\u2019s latest graphics technologies, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing, Dynamic Caching and improved geometry performance.<\/p>\n

Mac Studio Pushes Further Into Pro AI<\/strong>
\nFor users who need substantially more power, the new Mac Studio moves to M5 Max and M5 Ultra.<\/p>\n

Mac Studio with M5 Max features an 18-core CPU, an up-to-40-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and up to 128GB of unified memory. Apple says it is aimed at musicians, photographers, developers and designers working with demanding graphics, AI and media workflows.<\/p>\n

The bigger leap comes with M5 Ultra, which Apple describes as its most powerful chip ever.<\/p>\n

M5 Ultra uses next-generation UltraFusion technology to connect two dual-die M5 Max chips into a quad-die architecture, a first for Apple silicon. It can be configured with up to a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU and a massive 512GB of unified memory.<\/p>\n

Memory bandwidth reaches 1.2TB\/s, which is 50% higher than M3 Ultra, allowing extremely large datasets and AI models to remain entirely in local memory.<\/p>\n

Designed for Huge AI Models<\/strong>
\nThe M5 Ultra\u2019s GPU incorporates Neural Accelerators in every core and delivers up to 4.3x the peak AI compute performance of M3 Ultra, according to Apple.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

That hardware is designed to support large-scale local AI inference, image generation, scientific analysis, VFX and other compute-intensive tasks without relying on cloud processing.<\/p>\n

Apple is also allowing multiple Mac Studio systems to be clustered using Thunderbolt 5 and RDMA. A four-system cluster can deliver up to 3x faster AI inference than a single Mac Studio, creating a shared compute platform for researchers and professional teams working with frontier-class open models.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

For video professionals, M5 Ultra\u2019s upgraded Media Engine can handle up to 33 streams of 8K ProRes 422 at 30fps simultaneously.<\/p>\n

Faster Storage and More Displays<\/strong>
\nThe new Mac Studio also introduces a PCIe Gen 6-based SSD architecture, which Apple says can deliver up to twice the storage performance of the previous generation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Thunderbolt 5 offers up to 120Gb\/s of bandwidth, while the Apple-designed N1 chip introduces Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
\nThe Mac Studio can support up to eight displays, or up to four Studio Display XDR monitors at full 5K resolution and 120Hz, making it particularly well suited to large creative and production environments.<\/p>\n

macOS 27 and Siri AI Complete the Package<\/strong>
\nBoth machines are designed to work closely with macOS 27 Golden Gate and Apple\u2019s next generation of Apple Intelligence.
\nThe update introduces Siri AI, which can draw on personal context across messages, email and photos, answer broader questions, understand what is shown on screen and perform actions across apps.<\/p>\n

Apple Intelligence also expands into Safari, Photos and Shortcuts, including tools that can create automations from natural-language descriptions and perform more advanced image editing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

For users buying the new hardware specifically for AI, the combination of faster local compute, larger unified memory pools and deeper integration across macOS is likely to be just as important as the raw chip specifications.<\/p>\n

Singapore Pricing<\/strong>
\nThe Mac mini with M6 starts at S$1,299, or S$1,149 for education, while the Mac mini with M5 Pro starts at S$2,499, or S$2,349 for education.<\/p>\n

The Mac Studio with M5 Max starts at S$3,499, with education pricing from S$3,219. The flagship Mac Studio with M5 Ultra starts at S$7,999, or S$7,419 for education.<\/p>\n
