Hublot has unveiled the Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue, a new limited-edition timepiece that combines the brand\u2019s expertise in sapphire with the distinctive architecture of its Meca-10 movement. Limited to just 100 pieces, the watch is designed to evoke the openness and clarity of a summer sky through its transparent blue construction.<\/p>\n
Housed in a 44mm fully polished sapphire crystal case, the Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue continues Hublot\u2019s long-running exploration of coloured sapphire, a material that has become one of the manufacture\u2019s defining signatures over the past decade.<\/p>\n
A New Expression of Sapphire<\/strong> The Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue takes that expertise in a softer direction, using a pale, transparent blue that gives the watch a bright and airy character while allowing the mechanics beneath to remain fully visible.<\/p>\n The sapphire bezel is secured by Hublot\u2019s signature H-shaped titanium screws, while a matching sapphire caseback continues the transparent aesthetic from front to back.<\/p>\n A structured sky-blue rubber strap completes the monochromatic look, creating a cohesive design that feels both technical and playful.<\/p>\n The Meca-10 Takes Centre Stage<\/strong> First introduced in 2016, the movement was conceived around an open, construction-inspired architecture that puts its mechanics on display rather than hiding them beneath a traditional dial.<\/p>\n The calibre is made up of 223 components and features a fully skeletonised structure inspired by Meccano construction systems. Two parallel mainspring barrels deliver an impressive 10-day power reserve, making the movement as practical as it is visually distinctive.<\/p>\n One of its defining features is an unconventional rack-and-pinion power reserve system, with sliding racks moving along a horizontal axis from 9 o\u2019clock to 3 o\u2019clock. This creates a highly visual indication of the remaining power reserve and gives the movement much of its mechanical personality.<\/p>\n Mechanics on Full Display<\/strong> A matte sky-blue skeleton dial and matching movement bridges echo the case colour while preserving the transparency that defines the watch.
