The 2026 editions of InnoEX and the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) (EFSE) concluded on a high note, attracting over 88,000 buyers from 155 countries and regions. Jointly organised by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau (ITIB) of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the four-day exhibitions once again reinforced Hong Kong\u2019s role as a global connector between the Chinese Mainland and international markets. Buyers from key regions, including Mainland China, Japan, India, the United States and Korea, were among those actively participating in sourcing, networking and business matching.<\/p>\n
According to Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, both exhibitions continue to bring together global innovation and technology leaders while leveraging Hong Kong\u2019s unique position as a gateway between China and the world. The platform enables Mainland enterprises to expand overseas while offering international companies a springboard into Asian and Chinese Mainland markets. At the same time, it facilitates cross-industry collaboration, accelerates the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and strengthens Hong Kong\u2019s development as an international innovation and technology hub.<\/p>\n

Aligned with China\u2019s 15th Five-Year Plan and Hong Kong\u2019s latest Budget priorities, this year\u2019s editions placed strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and advanced technology applications. A major highlight was the debut of RoboPark, which gathered technology companies from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and overseas, showcasing over 100 robots across diverse real-world scenarios. Among the standout exhibitors was UBTECH, one of the world\u2019s top humanoid robot vendors by sales. The company reported results that exceeded expectations, engaging potential buyers from the Chinese Mainland, the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia, underscoring the exhibition\u2019s strong international reach.<\/p>\n

InnoEX focused on five key technology areas: AI+, robotics, the low-altitude economy, property technology and retail technology, presenting a comprehensive display of next-generation solutions. The exhibition brought together exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, including strong participation from both the UK Pavilion and Macao Pavilion. Notably, exhibitors from the Macao Pavilion alone conducted more than 280 business meetings within the first three days, reflecting the event\u2019s effectiveness as a business-matching platform.<\/p>\n

The exhibition also featured extensive participation from universities, research institutions and leading technology companies such as Huawei, China Mobile Hong Kong, HKT and Lenovo. Beyond exhibiting, Huawei hosted its Hong Kong Tech Week 2026 alongside InnoEX, organising 12 themed events and industry forums that explored real-world AI+ applications across sectors, creating strong synergy with the main exhibition and enriching its thought-leadership programme.<\/p>\n

Mainland China\u2019s presence was particularly prominent, with pavilions representing 17 provinces and municipalities. Among them, the Zhongguancun Beijing Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation Centre brought a delegation of 10 high-quality technology enterprises spanning frontier sectors such as artificial intelligence, intelligent robotics, low-altitude technologies and application-specific chips. On the very first day, the delegation attracted strong interest from organisations and enterprises across Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and the Middle East, highlighting the fair\u2019s global draw.<\/p>\n

Running alongside InnoEX, the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) showcased innovations in smart living through three main categories: Smart Home & Solutions, Health Tech & Gadgets and Pet Intelligence. Around 60 products made their global debut at the fair. Among the exhibitors, HelloBaby presented its latest baby monitoring solutions, highlighting the exhibition\u2019s strong international appeal with buyers primarily from Japan, Korea, Singapore and other Asian markets.<\/p>\n

The fair also delivered tangible business outcomes for exhibitors. Carmate Electronics Pty Ltd reported securing potential transactions worth approximately US$200,000 on the first day, with follow-up orders expected to reach between US$400,000 and US$500,000. The company successfully engaged buyers from Brazil, Mexico, Belgium and Indonesia, and reaffirmed its participation for next year, citing Hong Kong\u2019s strategic role as a bridge between overseas and Mainland enterprises, especially amid evolving global trade dynamics.<\/p>\n
From the buyer’s perspective, the exhibitions offered both sourcing opportunities and valuable market insights. A representative from P.J Global Way Management Ltd noted that beyond placing orders, the event helped her stay updated on the latest technological developments and industry trends. During the fair, she arranged around 12 business meetings, connecting with exhibitors from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and Denmark, and identified two to three promising partners for future collaboration.<\/p>\n

Beyond trade and networking, the exhibitions featured a robust conference programme with over 100 events and more than 260 speakers, including industry leaders, academics and policymakers. In the AI+ space, the Hong Kong Computer Society co-organised the session \u201cFrom +AI to AI+: Enhancing Workplace Performance,\u201d bringing together representatives from HKT, Lenovo and CLP to explore how AI is transforming enterprise productivity.<\/p>\n
For the first time, InnoEX also co-organised the Low-altitude Economy Development Conference with the Working Group on Developing Low-altitude Economy and the Greater Bay Area Low-altitude Economy Alliance. Distinguished speakers included Michael Wong and Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev, who shared insights on regional collaboration and emerging opportunities across Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, ASEAN and Central Asia.<\/p>\n

Another key highlight was the seminar \u201cEmbodied AI in Robotics: The Dawn of Autonomy,\u201d which examined how embodied artificial intelligence is enabling autonomous systems capable of independent decision-making and complex task execution. Speakers, including Xuguang Lan and Kristine M,o discussed how AI-driven robotics are transforming industries such as education, entertainment and services, while addressing technological breakthroughs, ethical considerations and future applications.<\/p>\n
Additional programme highlights included the Retail 4.0: Reshaping Consumer Experiences seminar, which featured industry leaders from organisations such as the Hong Kong Retail Management Association, Decathlon Hong Kong, Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited, Adyen, Visa and Tencent Cloud, who explored evolving retail trends and the future of consumer experiences. Meanwhile, EFSE also featured an Immersive Experience Zone where local tech companies showcased interactive applications powered by VR, AR and XR technologies.<\/p>\n

To better understand industry trends, independent surveys were conducted during the fairs, covering 347 respondents at InnoEX and 648 at EFSE. The findings revealed that 81% of respondents are interested in expanding into emerging markets such as Europe, ASEAN, the Chinese Mainland and Latin America, while 78% have already explored or adopted generative AI technologies.<\/p>\n
At InnoEX, key applications of generative AI include sales and customer engagement (42%), data analysis and reporting (40%), and product design and R&D (39%). At EFSE, 59% of respondents expect overall sales revenue to grow within the next one to two years, while 33% believe consumers are willing to pay a premium of 11% to 20% for smart home or AI-enabled products.<\/p>\n
Taken together, the scale of participation, strong commercial outcomes and depth of industry dialogue highlight the growing importance of AI, robotics and smart technologies in shaping global innovation. More importantly, they reinforce Hong Kong\u2019s evolving role as a leading international innovation and technology hub, one that continues to connect markets, ideas and opportunities on a global stage.<\/p>\n
