The Extra Plat: A Signature Revisited<\/strong>
\nFor Daniel Roth, simplicity has never meant simplicity of execution.<\/p>\n

During his early years as an independent watchmaker, Mr Roth regarded the Extra Plat as a complication in its own right \u2014 second only to the tourbillon in his hierarchy of horological achievements. Its apparent minimalism concealed a formidable technical challenge: achieving thinness without sacrificing structural integrity or precision.<\/p>\n

Encased within the brand\u2019s distinctive double-ellipse silhouette, the Extra Plat became a cornerstone of Daniel Roth\u2019s identity \u2014 defined by proportion, balance, and disciplined construction.<\/p>\n

In the early 1990s, shortly after founding his namesake brand, MMrRoth began skeletonising select references in extremely limited quantities. These early openworked creations were painstaking technical exercises, showcasing slender architecture, open volumes, and meticulous hand-finishing.<\/p>\n

\nAt the centre of the timepiece lies the calibre DR002SR, a newly shaped manually wound movement manufactured entirely in-house at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.<\/p>\n

Derived from the DR002, the DR002SR reimagines the original architecture with newly designed bridges and plates specifically conceived for skeletonisation. Every structural element has been reconsidered to allow light to pass through the movement while maintaining rigidity and chronometric precision.<\/p>\n
