In celebration of its 250th anniversary, Breguet has launched one of its most poetic and technically daring creations to date\u2014the Classique Tourbillon Sid\u00e9ral 7255. Released on 26 June 2025, exactly 224 years after Abraham-Louis Breguet received the patent for his revolutionary tourbillon invention, this new timepiece embodies both a homage to history and a masterstroke of modern watchmaking. Only 50 pieces of this limited edition will be crafted, ensuring its rarity and prestige.<\/p>\n

At its heart lies a flying tourbillon with a mysterious construction, marking a first in Breguet\u2019s long legacy. Elevated prominently within the case, the tourbillon appears to levitate above the aventurine enamel dial, thanks to sapphire components and hidden mechanics that eliminate visible links to the rest of the movement. The result is a floating mechanical spectacle that seems suspended in time and space.<\/p>\n

Technically, the Classique Tourbillon Sid\u00e9ral 7255 is driven by the hand-wound Calibre 187M1, with 183 components and a frequency of 2.5 Hz. The tourbillon mechanism alone adds 2.2 mm of height to the 4.8 mm movement, thereby dictating the proportions of the watch\u2019s elegant 38 mm case, crafted from 18K Breguet gold. The case is finished with the brand\u2019s iconic fluted caseband and sapphire crystal engraved with \u201cBREGUET 250 YEARS\u201d.<\/p>\n

The name \u201cSid\u00e9ral\u201d is no coincidence. It references sidereal time\u2014astronomical time measured by the stars rather than the Sun. Breguet ties the watch to celestial themes not only through nomenclature but also in design. The deep blue aventurine enamel dial, speckled with copper particles, evokes a star-strewn night sky. Crafted through a meticulous grand feu technique involving multiple firings at over 800\u00b0C, each dial is unique\u2014no two dials sparkle in quite the same way.<\/p>\n
The aesthetic refinements don\u2019t stop at the dial. The watch also introduces a new guilloch\u00e9 motif\u2014Quai de l\u2019Horloge\u2014executed in both circular and linear styles across the caseback and main plate. This design pays tribute to the Seine\u2019s curves around the \u00cele de la Cit\u00e9 in Paris, where Breguet established his first workshop in 1775.<\/p>\n
