Casio has unveiled the latest additions to its G-SHOCK line, the GCW-B5000UN models, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the renowned G-SHOCK brand. These new models blend the iconic design of the original G-SHOCK with advanced carbon materials, offering a perfect mix of durability and lightweight design.<\/p>\n

A Fusion of Classic Design and Modern Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n

The GCW-B5000UN series continues the legacy of the 5000 line, inheriting the classic shape of the first G-SHOCK but revolutionizing it with carbon material components. This innovative approach results in a significantly lighter watch, weighing approximately 65g \u2013 a remarkable 61% reduction compared to its full-metal predecessor, the GMW-B5000D, which weighed around 167g.<\/p>\n

The GCW-B5000UN employs various types of carbon materials to achieve its complex, shock-resistant structure. The bezel and band use forged carbon, known for its moulding flexibility, while multilayer carbon is utilized for the clasp’s folding arm, offering high bending strength. Additionally, the monocoque case and integrated case back are made from carbon fibre-reinforced resin, ensuring robustness and longevity.<\/p>\n

Cosmic-Inspired Design and Special Features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reflecting the infinite expanse of outer space, the design of the GCW-B5000UN features a motif inspired by the Big Bang and galactic planets. The two-model lineup includes a purple version with mixed-colour moulding and opal specks and a classic black model. Special features include a unique G-SHOCK 40th anniversary logo designed by graphic artist Eric Haze, engraved on the underside of the watch, adding a special touch to these commemorative models.<\/p>\n
