Sony has unveiled the IER-M500, a new pair of professional in-ear monitors (IEMs) designed to deliver reliable, high-quality monitoring for performers on stage. Developed with input from professional monitor engineers, the IER-M500 combines excellent noise isolation, a secure fit and accurate sound reproduction, making it suitable for everyone from aspiring musicians to seasoned professionals.

The IER-M500 expands Sony’s professional audio portfolio, complementing its creator-focused ecosystem that spans recording microphones, studio headphones such as the MDR-M1, immersive audio technologies including 360 Reality Audio, and now live stage monitoring solutions.
Secure Fit for Confident Performances
Designed for comfort during extended performances, the IER-M500 features Sony’s proprietary fitting supporters and noise-isolating ear tips that provide a stable, personalised fit. Four ear tip sizes are included, while thin polyurethane walls improve passive noise isolation without compromising comfort.

Flexible ear hooks and cable clips further enhance stability, helping performers stay focused even during energetic stage performances.
Professional Monitoring with Excellent Isolation
Built using Sony’s decades of audio engineering expertise, the IER-M500 is designed to meet the demanding requirements of live performance environments.

Its fully sealed construction, combined with a large acoustic chamber, effectively blocks external stage noise while delivering accurate monitoring. A dynamic driver provides controlled, impactful bass, while an optimised internal acoustic design ensures detailed high-frequency reproduction for precise monitoring of vocals, instruments and harmonies.

The IER-M500 also supports high-resolution audio playback, reproducing a wide frequency range for greater detail and clarity. High passive noise isolation helps reduce the need for excessive monitoring volume, offering additional hearing protection during performances.
The monitors were developed in collaboration with leading monitor engineers, including Noel Edwards, who has worked with internationally renowned touring artists.
“I usually use custom-fit in-ear monitors, but the sound quality of these in-ear monitors is pretty close for comparison. If you are in a situation where you need universal in-ear monitors and want a reliable pair, these are a great option,” said Edwards.
Built to Withstand Life on Stage
Designed for the realities of live performance, the IER-M500 offers resistance to sweat and moisture, allowing performers to move freely without worrying about demanding stage conditions.

Its detachable 1.6-metre cable is engineered for repeated plugging and unplugging, ensuring durability whether used on stage, in rehearsal or in the studio.

The IER-M500 will be available in three transparent finishes—Clear, Black, and a distinctive Red & Blue combination. Clearly marked left and right earpieces make setup quick and intuitive.
Designed with Sustainability in Mind

Sony has incorporated approximately 35% recycled plastic into the product’s plastic components, reducing the use of virgin fossil-based materials as part of the company’s ongoing sustainability efforts.
