Where it really separates itself is the camera experience. Pro Res Zoom pushes up to 100× by blending optical data, multi-frame processing and generative AI. Portraits are a highlight. 50MP Portraits tap the full main sensor, delivering hair strands, fabrics and skin texture with depth you usually don’t associate with a phone. Under warm Christmas lights, bokeh looked natural rather than smeared, and facial tones stayed believable. In tougher scenes – from the lantern-lit House of Tan Yeok Nee to mixed lighting inside the National Museum – the Pixel 10 Pro XL consistently balanced highlights, shadows and fine texture without blowing out signage or crushing dark wood carvings. Night Sight Video brings similar composure to motion, keeping night street clips stable and clean even while walking.
Outside the camera, this is very much an AI-native phone. Magic Cue surfaces context before you even ask – surfacing flight info when you ring the airline, or addresses when someone texts about dinner. Gemini Live turns the camera into a live explainer, letting you aim at objects or scenes and get instant guidance or ideas. For work, Gemini doubles as a creative partner and research aide, from visual concepting to deeper dives into topics, with the on-device Gemini Nano model enabling faster, more private replies.
On the pure hardware side, the Tensor G5 isn’t at the top of the gaming benchmark charts, but it’s comfortably fast for day-to-day use, helped by 16GB of RAM and optimised scheduling in Android 16. Battery life from the 5,200mAh cell is solid: all-day with camera use, and more if you lean on Extreme Battery Saver. Wired 45W charging and exclusive 25W Qi2.2 wireless make top-ups genuinely quick, and Qi2 compatibility plus Pixelsnap magnets make it easier to live on docks and stands.
