Hublot Unveils Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle: Brutalist Spirit Meets Watchmaking Precision

Once seen as purely utilitarian, concrete has become a canvas for bold creative expression. With the launch of the Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot transforms this industrial material into a symbol of urban sophistication. Created in celebration of Hublot’s new flagship boutique on New York’s Fifth Avenue, this striking timepiece fuses Swiss mechanical mastery with the grit and spirit of the city that never sleeps.

Measuring 44mm in diameter and 15.3mm thick, the Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle is encased entirely in matte concrete—an audacious material choice elevated by Hublot’s expert craftsmanship. The case is framed by H-shaped screws in polished and micro-blasted titanium, matched with a satin-finished titanium caseback and a black rubber-overmoulded crown. The piece is water-resistant to 50 meters and designed to stand out with an unapologetically bold presence, echoing the strength and endurance of New York City’s skyline.

At its heart is the HUB1201 manual-winding skeletonised movement, developed entirely in-house. This architectural calibre features a 10-day power reserve powered by dual barrels, beating at 3Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour). A rack-and-pinion power reserve indicator, marked in red, provides a clear view of remaining energy. The movement’s intricate components—gears, plates, ratchet wheels, and axes—are elegantly exposed, aligning with the Brutalist design language of the case.

This release marks the third chapter in Hublot’s Concrete Jungle series, following the Big Bang in 2016 and the Classic Fusion in 2020. It also commemorates the brand’s relocation to its new flagship on Fifth Avenue, reinforcing Hublot’s status in one of the world’s most prestigious luxury retail districts. The boutique’s façade mirrors the aesthetic of the timepiece itself, with its combination of concrete and black brushed aluminium.

The watch is paired with two interchangeable straps: a grey fabric strap with a Velcro fastener and a classic black rubber strap. Both can be swapped easily using Hublot’s “One Click” system. The exclusive packaging features a stylised green Hublot box with a unique rendering of the New York City skyline, underscoring the timepiece’s deep connection to the city.

The Hour Glass is proud to be the sole partner of Hublot in Southeast Asia.
