Gaggenau, the renowned German brand known for luxury kitchen appliances, has unveiled its latest design-driven innovation: the Minimalistic series. As a refined counterpoint to the recently launched Expressive series, this new line showcases Gaggenau’s dedication to craftsmanship and cutting-edge engineering while embracing visual purity, architectural integration, and essential form.
The Minimalistic series strips away the superfluous, presenting a unified aesthetic defined by two sleek linear ventilation profiles and a single central control ring. These appliances are entirely handleless, with hidden displays revealed only when in use, tucked behind smoked glass. At the heart of each appliance lies the floating control ring, milled from solid stainless steel, suspended like a piece of modern sculpture. It serves as the sole tactile interface, delivering intuitive interaction with precise elegance.
Designed to accommodate a wide range of culinary tasks, the series includes ovens, combi-steam ovens, combi-microwave ovens, fully automatic coffee machines, as well as culinary warming and vacuuming drawers. Internally, the ovens are engineered for performance, boasting a 300°C bottom heat system, a powerful full-surface grill behind Gaggenau’s signature blue enamel, and a robust five-layer glass door capable of withstanding temperatures up to 485°C. The user interface complements this power with a proximity sensor, automatic programs, and a sophisticated, touchless display.
Available in two luxurious finishes: Gaggenau Sterling and Gaggenau Onyx, the Minimalistic series adapts seamlessly to both light and dark kitchen environments. Sterling reflects light subtly for a refined contrast, while Onyx blends into moody, modern interiors. Each finish is enriched with fine metallic particles, giving the surfaces a sense of depth and interaction with ambient light.
True to Gaggenau’s heritage, every appliance in the series is the result of both industrial precision and hand-finished craftsmanship. Invisible joins, exacting alignment, and meticulous surface inspections highlight the brand’s attention to every detail.
Sven Baacke, Gaggenau’s Head of Design, contrasts the two recent collections: “While the Expressive series captures attention with bold sculptural forms, the Minimalistic series achieves clarity through absence. This is designed as a restraint, where geometry is refined and integrated to disappear into the kitchen architecture.”
Industrial Designer Alexander Stuhler further elaborates, “We removed everything non-essential. What remains is deliberate, architectural, and quietly powerful. These appliances become part of the space, not the focus.”
User Interface Designer Sören Strayle highlights the thoughtful tactility of the control ring: “It feels crafted, like jewellery. In a digital world, this tactile anchor brings a human connection. Its circular shape is universal, and its design, based on the golden ratio,o feels instinctively right.”
Dr. Peter Goetz, Managing Director of Gaggenau, summarises the philosophy behind the series: “The Minimalistic line represents our ongoing pursuit of timeless design. It’s our most reduced collection to date, designed not to chase trends, but to endure, gracefully, for decades.”
The Gaggenau Minimalistic series will be available across Europe starting in autumn 2025.
