Synology has officially introduced BeeStation Plus, the newest entry in its user-friendly BeeStation series, designed to deliver cloud-like functionality without the complexity of traditional network-attached storage systems. Featuring 8 TB of storage and offering up to 4.8 times the performance of its predecessor, BeeStation Plus is engineered to meet the growing demands of families, collaborative creative environments, and professional users seeking enhanced data accessibility, organisation, and usability.
According to Synology Product Manager Mayi, the BeeStation platform was conceived to simplify private cloud storage, eliminating the need for advanced technical knowledge. The latest iteration addresses user feedback requesting greater storage capacity and broader functionality to better facilitate application hosting and collaborative workflows.
BeeStation Plus offers seamless automatic backup from multiple sources, including smartphones, computers, cloud photo libraries, and external drives, into a centralised location. Local AI capabilities enable users to perform subject and facial recognition tasks without transmitting data to third-party servers, thereby enhancing privacy. The system also supports integrated file management from various origins, allowing for intuitive navigation, intelligent search functions, and efficient content sharing.
For multimedia use, BeeStation Plus includes native support for Plex Media Server, enabling users to curate and stream their video libraries, including movies, TV shows, and home recordings, across a wide range of devices such as televisions, smartphones, and tablets. This media functionality is further complemented by robust data protection measures, which include snapshot-based recovery points and a complimentary three-month subscription to BeeProtect.
The BeeProtect service facilitates off-site backups with end-to-end encryption, aligning with 3-2-1 backup best practices to ensure data resilience against hardware failure, theft, or natural disasters.
