Sarpaneva Supernova 2025: A Celestial Comeback Forged in Steel and Stardust

The cosmos has returned to the wrist. Finnish independent watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva unveils the Sarpaneva Supernova 2025, a bold and breathtaking evolution of his iconic Korona K3.

Born from the Stars, Built in Steel
Dubbed a “supernova on the wrist,” this latest creation honours Sarpaneva’s long-standing devotion to steel. For Stepan, steel is real. A pure, honest material that reflects strength and simplicity. No gold, no excess. Just honest craftsmanship, elevated by poetic detail.

But there’s one celestial twist: the return of the gold Moonface, a hallmark of the Sarpaneva brand. This hauntingly expressive moon, half-smiling and half-scowling, is brought to life through a meticulous and complex production process, symbolising the duality of the cosmos.

From Helsinki, with Precision
What sets Sarpaneva apart isn’t just design, but devotion. Every dial part is made in-house.

The stainless steel hands are polished and finished to perfection without shortcuts.

Rather than outsourcing to Switzerland, many components are prototyped and produced in engineering firms around Helsinki, reinforcing Sarpaneva’s deep local roots and uncompromising standards.

The Quiet Echo of a Stellar Explosion
In a surprise twist for 2025, the Supernova isn’t just a moon phase. Sarpaneva introduces a time-only version and with it, a bold venture into stone dials.

These dials, composed of ancient minerals, evoke the silence after a star’s explosive end. They’re calm, grounding, and quietly powerful, natural counterpoints to the intricate energy within. Each dial is a cosmic mirage, blending earthly elegance with interstellar memory.

The Galaxy Beneath
Flip the watch over and you’ll discover the Spiral Galaxy caseback, inspired by the rare magnetar, one of the most intense cosmic phenomena in the known universe.

Its redesigned “turbine” motif, first seen in the 2003 Sarpaneva Oiva, now captures the pulse of a star’s magnetic flare, echoing the same force behind Earth’s auroras. It’s a poetic bridge between deep space and daily life.
