Ulysse Nardin has once again made waves in the world of haute horlogerie with the release of the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK], a bold and technically advanced dive watch that goes beyond precision engineering to support shark conservation.
Crafted in a striking 44mm blue PVD-coated titanium case, this limited-edition dive watch merges the Swiss watchmaker’s nearly 180-year legacy of marine precision with a modern mission to protect one of the ocean’s most threatened predators, the hammerhead shark.
Founded in 1846, Ulysse Nardin built its reputation on supplying marine chronometers to navies around the world. Today, that maritime spirit continues in the form of high-horology dive watches like the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK], which pays tribute to the brand’s seafaring roots while championing ocean sustainability.
The hammerhead shark, often misunderstood yet majestic in presence, is now critically endangered, with global populations declining due to overfishing, pollution, and climate change. With this launch, Ulysse Nardin aims to raise awareness and funds to support shark protection. Continuing its “shark line” legacy, which previously honoured the Great White, Lemon, and Blue Shark, this new model contributes 1% of its annual sales to conservation efforts through its partnership with 1% for the Planet. For the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK], proceeds will benefit the Shark Trust, a UK-based non-profit dedicated to safeguarding shark populations worldwide.
Supporting this cause is brand ambassador Mike Coots, a shark attack survivor who lost a leg to a tiger shark. Rather than retreat from the ocean, Mike became a passionate advocate for shark conservation, using his experience to educate and inspire. His story underscores the watch’s message: sharks are not monsters but vital guardians of marine ecosystems.
Beyond its conservation mission, the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK] is a technical masterpiece. It offers 300 metres of water resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel for dive timing, highly luminescent markers for low-light visibility, and a running seconds indicator to confirm the watch is functioning properly underwater.
At its heart is the UN-118 Manufacture Movement, a self-winding calibre that features Ulysse Nardin’s innovative DiamonSil escapement and a silicon balance spring. These advanced, lubrication-free components ensure excellent durability and performance. The watch provides a 60-hour power reserve, visible through an indicator at the noon position, and includes a rare mechanism that allows for both forward and backwards date adjustment.
Retailing at SGD 17,800 (including tax), the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK] supports meaningful conservation efforts, ensuring that this iconic ocean predator can continue to thrive.
