Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence, a groundbreaking personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This new feature combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver highly useful and relevant intelligence to users. Deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, Apple Intelligence leverages Apple silicon to perform complex tasks, enhance communication, and ensure user privacy.
Key Features of Apple Intelligence:
Generative Models with Personal Context: Apple Intelligence uses advanced generative models to understand and create language and images.
It takes action across apps and draws from personal context to simplify everyday tasks, making the user experience more intuitive and efficient.
Systemwide Writing Tools: Built into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, these tools allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarise text in apps like Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.
Writing Tools provide options for adjusting tone, improving grammar, and summarising content to enhance communication.
Enhanced Mail and Notifications: The Mail app now includes Priority Messages for urgent emails, email summaries, and Smart Reply for quick responses.
Notifications are also improved with Priority Notifications and summaries, helping users stay focused on what matters most.
Audio Transcription and Summarisation: In the Notes and Phone apps, users can record, transcribe, and summarise audio.
Making it easier to capture and recall key points from conversations.
Image Playground: This feature allows users to create playful images in seconds, choosing from styles like Animation, Illustration, or Sketch.
Integrated into apps like Messages and Notes, Image Playground enhances visual communication.
Genmoji Creation: Users can create personalised Genmoji by typing descriptions or using photos of friends and family.
Genmoji can be used in messages, as stickers, or in Tapbacks, adding a fun and expressive element to conversations.
Redesigned Photos App: The new Photos app features advanced search capabilities and a Clean Up tool to remove distractions from images.
The Memories feature allows users to create stories from their photos and videos by simply typing a description.
Enhanced Siri: Apple Intelligence powers a more natural and contextually aware Siri. Users can type or speak to Siri, ask complex questions, and have Siri perform actions based on on-screen content.
Siri’s new design includes a glowing light that wraps around the screen edge when active.
Integration with ChatGPT: Apple is integrating ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access its expertise and image- and document-understanding capabilities.
This integration enhances systemwide Writing Tools and Siri.
Privacy and Security: Apple Intelligence ensures user privacy with on-device processing for most tasks and Private Cloud Compute for more complex requests. Data is never retained or exposed, and independent experts can verify the privacy measures.
Apple Intelligence will be available in beta as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia later this year in U.S. English. It will be supported on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 and later. For more information, visit apple.com/apple-intelligence.
